I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! is back, which means so are the gruesome trials!
The 2022 series got off to a cracking start, as Ant and Dec returned to Australia for the first time since the pandemic hit, with stars including Chris Moyles and Boy George in the line-up.
Now, in the preview for the first grim trial of the series, the radio DJ and pop icon are about to be put through their paces, as they become trapped inside chambers quickly filling with water.
The launch programme on Sunday night saw an average of audience of 9.1million people tune in, according to overnight ratings provided by ITV – up by more than one million on last year. It also secured a peak viewership of 10.3million.
Viewers saw Karma Chameleon singer George, former Radio 1 star Chris, Scarlette Douglas, and Olivia Attwood selected to become Jungle VIPs – later revealed to mean ‘Very Isolated People’ – and sent to an alternative campsite.
In a first look at their debut trial, Chris is seen lying down inside a chamber, wearing goggles and a hard hat, as it begins to fill with cold water.

He squirms and shouts: ‘You could have warmed it up a bit’ while, shockingly, George is able to remain calm.
Hosts Ant and Dec announce: ‘Turn the taps,’ as Love Island’s Olivia and presenter Scarlette put their hands into small wall openings in a bid to unscrew pipe fittings inside.
However, the fittings are surrounded by hundreds of worms and the pair both scream.
Outside, Ant and Dec laugh as they watch on with glee.

The trial was filmed ahead of Olivia’s exit, as the reality star has left the jungle after less than 24 hours.
ITV confirmed that Olivia was forced to leave on medical grounds as a ‘precautionary measure.’
A spokesperson said in a statement: ‘As a precautionary measure Olivia needed to leave the jungle to undergo some medical checks.
‘Unfortunately the medical team has advised it is not safe for Olivia to return to camp as there needs to be a further investigation.’

They added to PA: ‘She has been absolutely brilliant and she’ll be very much missed on the show.’
So, despite taking part in the first trial, it seems it was both her first and her last.
Sunday’s launch episode saw a new batch of 10 celebrities enter the Aussie jungle for the first time since 2019, as the past two years were shot at Gwrych Castle in North Wales due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.

Two more arrivals have also been confirmed, with one expected to be former health secretary Matt Hancock.
Geordie duo Ant and Dec have already teased the politician’s arrival, with his signing having attracted a great deal of controversy and resulted in him being suspended from the Tory Party.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues on Monday at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
