Aaron Carter reportedly missed a scheduled rehab therapy session the evening before he was found dead at his California home at the age of 34.
The singer was found in a bathtub at 11am on Saturday, according to reports.
It’s since been claimed Carter’s on-and-off fiancé, Melanie Martin was ‘desperately’ trying to be there for him amid his addiction struggles and had signed Carter up for outpatient rehab treatment in September.
It’s reported after losing custody of his son, 11-month-old Prince, to Melanie’s mother, the former Disney star agreed to take part in the rehab program.
Sporadically taking breaks from his rehab schedule, it was reported by TMZ Carter re-enrolled last week and was supposed to complete an online therapy session on Friday evening.
When he never showed up, the facility contacted Melanie to let her know about his absence, and she was forced to tell them the sad news of his death.

It was previously claimed the singer was the subject of welfare checks after fans expressed worry after an Instagram Live he’d held.
Carter was found by the Lancaster home’s housekeeper and after assessing the scene, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department is waiting on toxicology reports to determine the cause of death.

The star’s death comes after family, friends and fans were worried for his wellbeing.
Sharing a series of throwback pictures, Carter’s big brother, Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter, wrote: ‘My heart has been broken today. Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded.
‘I have always held onto the hope, that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed.
‘Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss. But the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here.’
