Kate Moss delivered a rare speech at a recent fashion awards but appeared to stumble over her words.

The supermodel, 48, had the honour of presenting her friend, Yves Saint Laurent artistic director Anthony Vaccarello, with a gong at the Innovator Awards hosted by Wall Street Journal last week.

As she took to the podium, Kate seemed to be in positive spirits and smiled as she recalled her first time meeting the designer.

‘Good evening ladies and gentleman,’ she began politely before momentarily checking her phone.

She continued while breathing heavily: ‘Anthony and I have worked together for years. Since he started Yves Saint Laurent, I could recognise his instinct for fashion and I wanted to be part of that.

‘I am honoured to be part of his Yves Saint Laurent family and to be his friend. Ladies and gentleman, I am honoured to present Anthony Vaccarello with the innovator of the year award.’

It comes after the fashionista revealed she’s enjoying the ‘happiest’ time of her life since discovering she had put her party days behind her.

In September, the model launched her new beauty and wellness brand Cosmoss and has swapped late nights for a lifestyle of yoga and self-care.

‘Really, when I started to take care of myself, things began to change. They say that self-care is part of self-love. That’s what we all need, that’s what I needed,’ she recently said in an essay published in ES magazine.

Reflecting on her younger years, she continued: ‘My happy place was being on a dancefloor, that was my absolute idea of happiness. I still love being on the dance floor, but now I want to wake up feeling fresh. I want to wake up and do Pilates or yoga. I think I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.’

The runway icon went on: ‘The important thing about changing your lifestyle is that you don’t change yourself. I used to be a hedonist and that is still a part of my personality, that hasn’t gone. I definitely like to have fun.

‘It’s good to be multifaceted and we all have to recognise those different parts of our personality.’
