Ozzy Osbourne says that he and wife Sharon had to hire ‘armed guards’ following the backlash to her leaving The Talk.

The Black Sabbath frontman made the revelation while discussing comments he made in August about wanting to move back home to the United Kingdom after 20 years in Los Angeles.

At the time he said the decision was a result of a spate of shootings, but now the Birmingham native says it was because of the ‘flak’ they were getting after Sharon was terminated from the talk show.

‘When my wife got called a racist on [The Talk], she is absolutely not a racist,’ Ozzy, 73, told Consequence of Sound.

‘Her friend is Piers Morgan. She didn’t say, “I agree with him.” She just respected his ability to have freedom of speech. That’s all that she said,’ he added.

‘And she got a lot of flak from that, so we actually had to have f***ing armed guards and all that.’

In March 2021 Sharon, 70, quit the US series following a heated discussion about race with her fellow presenter Sheryl Underwood while coming to the defence of Piers.

At the time she defended her friend following comments he made about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

‘I support him for his freedom of speech, and he’s my friend. I’m not racist… I don’t care what colour or what religion anyone is. Are you a nice person? That’s what I judge you on,’ she said at the time.

However she quickly came under fire and while she issued an apology, she eventually decided to leave the show.

When talking of the move back home, Ozzy at first said that everything was ‘f****** ridiculous’ in the United States.

‘I’m fed up with people getting killed every day. God knows how many people have been shot in school shootings,’ he told The Observer.

‘And there was that mass shooting in Vegas at that concert … It’s f****** crazy. And I don’t want to die in America. I don’t want to be buried in f****** Forest Lawn,” he added.

But it now looks like they have changed their mind again, with Ozzy saying that he’s ‘American now’.

‘To be honest with you, I don’t want to go back [to England]. F*** that.’
