Matt Hancock finally arrived in the jungle last night, joining the likes of Boy George, Mike Tindall, and Charlene White, and what an entrance it was.

After Love Island’s Olivia Attwood made an early exit from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! comedian Seann Walsh and the former health secretary made their grand entry.

Viewers were already wary of what to expect after Tuesday’s teaser horrified many with Mr Hancock’s unforgettable (and unnerving) laugh.

After his laugh was compared to ‘nightmares’ and even The Shining, we were all pretty scared of what was to come.

And one scene we were definitely not prepared for will now be stuck in our minds for a long time to come, and it’s the top of our list for his cringiest moments during his first episode….

Matt Hancock bathes in a pool of water which is a sight we definitely did not want to see

We were not ready (Picture: ITV)

Just like Walsh, we also had to look away when Mr Hancock was filmed half-naked showering in a pool of water in the jungle.

After their bushtucker trial left them covered in muck, the pair took turns having a shower, but it wasn’t the sort Myleene Klass made headlines for.

In fact, it was probably on the total opposite end of the scale.

And it was certainly a sight viewers did not want to see, as one wrote: ‘NOT A MATT HANCOCK SHOWER SCENE.’

Another penned: ‘I do not want to see Matt Hancock half naked. Please make it stop!’

Matt Hancock slips on the bridge going in

Mr Hancock and Walsh entered the camp shortly after one another, but before he even made it in, the MP faced his first challenge: walking across the bridge.

Recovering from his literal slip-up, he said to Walsh (who was stunned to see the politician in the jungle): ‘So this is camp!’

Upon arriving at the camp and spotting a mole statue, Mr Hancock then asked: ‘Is that a Wind in the Willows reference?’

Matt Hancock breaks into song and butchers Ed Sheeran’s perfect

‘And I’m from Suffolk as well’ (Picture: ITV)

Mr Hancock asked Walsh what his tattoo meant, with the comedian and former Strictly star explaining that it’s a nod to his favourite band, Blink 182.

Asked who his favourite band is, the politician said: ‘Quite mainstream… I’m not going to put a tattoo of Ed Sheeran on my neck.’

We’re sure Ed’s relieved to know that.

Mr Hancock added: ‘Love him, and I’m from Suffolk as well.’

He then actually broke into song. Yep, that happened. After singing a few lines of Perfect, he said: ‘What’s it called? Perfect? I love it.’

Matt Hancock awkwardly recalling his failed attempt to run for Prime Minister

After a welcome hug, Mr Hancock explained his journey into politics (Picture: ITV)

During his opening conversation with Walsh, things turned a little awkward when Mr Hancock reminisced on that time he tried to run as Prime Minister.

Back in May 2019, the MP joined the likes of Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt to take over from Theresa May as leader of the Tories.

Mr Hancock was filling Walsh into his journey into politics, when Walsh asked: ‘Did you run?’

He replied: ‘Run as in to become an MP.’

Walsh then said: ‘Oh right, yes, sorry I thought you meant Prime Minister.’

To which Mr Hancock responded: ‘I did briefly try that as well. When Boris became Prime Minister, yeah…’

He was then saved by the sound of an alarm calling them to their first trial, thankfully.

Matt Hancock reliving his ‘next slide please’ phase

His line really made Chris Moyles’ day (Picture: ITV)

Upon arriving at the camp, contestant Chris Moyles only had one thing he wanted from Mr Hancock – his signature line.

During lockdown (before he resigned after being caught kissing his aide on CCTV), Mr Hancock frequently appeared on our screens next to then Prime Minister Boris Johnson giving press conferences.

During those he would often read out the graph that was being displayed on a PowerPoint, saying: ‘Next slide please.’

And that was exactly what Moyles wanted to hear, begging Mr Hancock to say it.

Already seen by viewers earlier in the day with a preview clip, Mr Hancock and Walsh were tasked with their first bushtucker trial.

During which he was pelted right in the face by slurry and covered in bugs, and let out a pretty fearful cry as it happened.

‘Which way do you want me to go?’ Mr Hancock asked later as a very stressed Walsh fired back: ‘Which way do I want you to go? I’m not a Sat Nav, I don’t know.’

Matt Hancock staring into the camera while slurping his tea

He’s even ruined drinking tea for us (Picture: ITV)

After having a successful day acting as a mole, Mr Hancock enjoyed a nice cup of tea and cherry bakewell with Walsh in their secret hut.

But it was slightly unnerving to see (and hear) him slurping his tea.

After Walsh was in hysterics over the ‘unusual’ situation the pair had found themselves in, he told Mr Hancock: ‘You’re a slurper.’

‘Am I?’ replied the politician.

I’m A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
