Channel 5 is showing at least one Christmas film every day from now until December 25-Tori Brazier-Entertainment – Metro

Festive film fans, your time has come as Channel 5 is showing a Christmas movie every single tinsel-filled day until December 25 – rejoice!

The broadcaster, known for airing cosy made-for-TV films in the afternoon, has apparently decided to go all-in and make the movies Crimbo-themed already, even though we are still a whole 45 days away from Christmas.

What’s more, it appears Channel 5 quietly began the transition into festive films before the end of October – so ahead of reaching Halloween – in its eagerness to share the Christmas bounty.

A gift indeed, unless you’re a strict no-Christmas-until-December-1 type.

There’s been room made in their schedule for a wide spread of Xmas stories, from Christmas Under the Stars to Christmas in Paris, Journey Back to Christmas and Christmas in My Heart (hey, I said the plotlines were different, not the titles).

They’ve also thrown some heavy cinema-released hitters into the mix, having screened Christmas with the Kranks, starring Tim Allen, Jamie Lee Curtis and Dan Aykroyd, on October 23.

That followed straight after top-class Hallmark made-for-TV fodder The Christmas Express (also known as The Christmas Train), starring Dermot Mulroney, Joan Cusack and Danny Glover.

This brings us to the next hit of Christmas joy – at the weekend, during the afternoons, Channel 5 is blessing its viewers with up to seven hours of festive viewing.

Offering multiple films, as well as two back-to-back start times for some of the titles, there appears to be no such thing as too much Christmas, too soon.

If you’re keen to watch during the week, this Xmas excess airs most afternoons around 2:15pm, before spreading out all afternoon on Saturday and Sunday.

Films on the schedule for the remainder of this week number Love at the Christmas Contest, Random Acts of Christmas and 2016’s A Heavenly Christmas, starring Sex and the City star Kristin Davis and actual Hollywood legend Shirley MacLaine.

Sunday’s glut of titles also includes A Royal Queens Christmas, about a prince spending Christmas in the New York City borough, and Saving Christmas Spirit, which follows an archaeologist discovering the importance of letting a little festive magic back into her life.

The schedule currently runs up to Wednesday November 23, with Friday November 18 airing what appears to be Channel 5’s final single Christmas film day with 2021’s A New England Christmas.

Saturday November 19 and Sunday November 20 continue with their full festive afternoons featuring the likes of 12 Pups of Christmas, The Christmas Toy Maker and A Kiss Before Christmas.

The Christmas movie marathon then starts to hit in earnest from Monday November 21, with yuletide movies taking up more of the afternoons during the week too.

The rest of the movies are yet to be revealed, but with 32 days until Christmas Day still at that point, there will certainly be plenty more to come!

Channel 5 airs a Christmas film every weekday from around 2pm, and all of Saturday and Sunday afternoons until December 25.
