A first look at Matt Hancock battling it out on Thursday’s Bushtucker trial has been revealed.
The former Health Secretary joined the jungle on Wednesday night, after controversially announcing he would be taking part in the 2022 series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
He made the decision to join the series as an MP during a cost of living crisis while parliament is sitting, following his time as Health Secretary, a role he was forced to quit for breaking his own pandemic rules by kissing a colleague.
It’s safe to say Hancock isn’t exactly popular with the public at the minute, and so naturally he was immediately voted to do a Bushtucker trial just hours after he arrived at the camp.
Now a short clip released by ITV shows the Suffolk native forced to dive deep underwater into small cages holding sea creatures – many of them with a pinch or a bite – in order to collect stars for his campmates.
In the preview, Ant and Dec comment on how the contestant has to ‘hold your breath for a long time,’ as Hancock avoids the pinchers of crab-like creatures while trying to get a star.

He then surfaces, but clearly isn’t in the mood for talking as he instead splitters slightly and takes deep breaths before diving back down as the water rises around him.
The new trial – Tentacles of Terror – comes after Hancock and second newcomer Seann Walsh were put through their paces upon their arrival.
Managing to collect six stars during the ordeal, the pair were covered in bugs and slurry as they crawled through dark tunnels.

Things didn’t exactly calm down in the campsite either, as the campmates wasted no time in grilling Mr Hancock on his decision to sign up with a tearful Boy George already threatening to quit over his appearance.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues on Thursday at 9pm on ITV.
