Iranian actress Taraneh Alidoosti, who starred in The Salesman, could face being arrested after she posed without a headscarf.

The 38-year-old uploaded a photo of herself without her headscarf in protest of the regime she has been critical of in the past.

In the image, the film star can be seen standing against flowery wallpaper, holding up a hand written sign that read, ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ in Kurdish.

She was previously handed a five month sentence for sharing a video of a ‘morality’ police officer attacking a woman for not wearing a hijab on a street in Iran

Igniting a wave of international rage and backlash, the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini resulted in people speaking out against Iran’s clerical establishment.

The young woman died in the custody of Tehran’s notorious ‘morality’ police in September.

A rally cry for other Iranian protesters wanting to stand up against the country’s regime, the notice isn’t the first of its kind from native famous faces.

Taraneh’s statement follows that of Iranian footballer Sardar Azmoun who used his social media to share his opinions.

The Bayern Leverkusen striker passionately said on his Instagram story: ‘Shame on you for easily killing the people and viva women of Iran.

‘Long live Iranian women!’

Risking his spot on the country’s national team, the sport star’s efforts were commended by the world at large, with ESPN commentator Derek Rae tweeting: ‘Sardar Azmoun’s support for the #Iranprotests2022 shows why football, as the most popular sport in the world with a social responsibility & influence, should never just stick to football.’

The outspoken actress is often referred to in global media as ‘the Natalie Portman of Iran’ and has previously been known to voice her feelings.

During a press conference for The Salesman, which won an Oscar in 2017 for Best Foreign Language Film, she revealed a feminist tattoo she had and landed herself in hot water again.

As one of Iran’s most successful actresses, Taraneh has more than 8 million social media followers and has since paused her professional career to support the families of those killed at the hands of security crackdowns during demonstrations.

According to the BBC, local human rights activists reported that there has been at least 328 deaths and 14,800 detentions in the country as of late.
