Kevin the Carrot returns in Aldi’s Home Alone inspired Christmas advert-Meghna Amin-Entertainment – Metro
Kevin’s back!
Everyone’s favourite celebrity vegetable is back – and no, we’re not talking about the lettuce that outlasted the Prime Minister.
Kevin the Carrot has returned to our screens as Aldi launch their 2022 Christmas advert.
And he’s following in the footsteps of the original Christmas Kevin, the one from Home Alone.
The ad opens with Kevin’s carrot family: Katie, Baby, Jasper and Chantenay hurrying through a busy airport as they race to catch a flight to Paris for Christmas.
It’s once they’re snuggled up on the plane that Katie notices that someone is missing, and surprise, surprise, it’s Kevin.
Separated from his family, the scene cuts to Kevin, who is Home Alone kicked back watching a football match (cheekily being played by teams for Cuthbert and Colin the caterpillars in a nod to all the drama from last year) on his big screen.

But suddenly he hears heavy footsteps of an unknown intruder on the roof.
‘Quaking in his roots’, he devises a plan to warn off the uninvited guest, from swinging on some fairy lights to using baubles as a harness.
But, eventually finding his place as a snowman’s nose, Kevin finally finds out who the intruder is, and it’s exactly who we’d expect it to be.

Adam Zavalis, Marketing Director at Aldi UK, said: ‘Christmas celebrates the joy of being with loved ones and this year more than ever we all need a bit of light entertainment as we celebrate the season together.
‘And it wouldn’t be the festive season without Kevin the Carrot on our TV screens, and this year’s Yuletide performance is sure to get the nation shouting ‘KEVIN!’ as we welcome him back for the seventh year.’
The full trailer comes after the supermarket chain dropped a football-themed teaser ad, called Feast of Football.

Set to the sound of Elvis Presley’s iconic tune A Little Less Conversation, Kevin and his family (wife Katie and children Jasper, Chantenay and Jasper) are caught up in a kickabout in an airport waiting lounge.
As they plan to take a festive trip to Paris, the 50-second advert references the upcoming World Cup in Qatar as well as parodying Nike’s famous 1998 World Cup ad, which saw the Brazilian play football through the airport.
This time though, the players include Ronaldi the lemon, Messi the blueberry (who spills coffee everywhere) Macarooney the macaron, and Marrowdonna – to name just a few among the excellent puns.

‘A football tournament in December? That’s going to get right in the way of Christmas!’ a disapproving Kevin declares at the start of the clip, reacting to a headline in the paper before he screws it up in a ball and tosses it over his shoulder.
Cue the football chaos, which sees Kevin drawn away from his family, and eventually ending where the new ad begins, as Kevin’s final kick of the ball sees the departure board flip to show he’s missed his flight, while Katie yells ‘Kevin!’ in horror from their seat on the aeroplane.
