Fans hoping to get tickets to Peter Kay’s first stand-up tour in 12 years were left in chaos after the O2 Priority website crashed.

Priority tickets for the highly-anticipated tour, which will see the comedian become the first person to perform a monthly residency at London’s O2 Arena, were due to go on sale at 10am on Thursday – only fans couldn’t access them due to the technical issues.

O2 shared a statement reading: ‘We’re seeing extraordinary demand for Peter Kay. We know customers are struggling to get on to our Priority website and app before 10am, we’re working on it. Please be patient, thank you.’

One fan wrote on Twitter: ‘How am I supposed to get my priority tickets for Peter Kay when the O2 priority app is down.’

‘The comfort of checking twitter and realising the entire O2 priority website has crashed for peter kay tickets,’ another said.

One more added: ‘I think Peter Kay has crashed 02 priority I cannot get on to my app this morning! @O2 sort it out!’ while another said: ‘How many people are frantically refreshing @O2 priority page… can’t just be me?’

Peter will be the first artist to play a month’s residency at the O2 arena, after he announced his epic comeback after 12 years.

He said of the announcement on Zoe Ball’s Radio 2 show: ‘Of course I’m not going to not do London. All I can say is yes I am.’

The comedian, who has remained largely out of the limelight over recent years – will embark on his first live tour since 2010, starting this December.

And, with plenty of people up and down the country struggling financially at the moment, the northern comic is keen to keep ticket prices as low as he can.

‘It’s good to get back to what I love doing best, stand-up comedy and if there’s ever a time people need a laugh it’s now,’ the funnyman said.

‘And with the cost of living at an all-time high, ticket prices are starting from £35. The same price they were on my previous tour in 2010.’

Peter will begin his tour on December 2 at the Manchester AO Arena before his residency at the O2, and visiting locations including Birmingham, Liverpool and Dublin, ending in August 2023 at the Sheffield Utilita Arena.
