Shortly after the news that Henry Cavill is stepping down from The Witcher and being replaced by Liam Hemsworth, a prequel spin-off starring Michelle Yeoh is set to drop on Netflix.

The new show – titled The Witcher: Blood Origin – has just released a new teaser trailer… and suffice to say, our excitement is through the roof.

Set 1,200 years before the events of the original series, the story will tell an interweaving, action-packed, elegant tale, including how the first prototype Witcher was created.

The fantasy drama will also depict the Conjunction of the spheres, which is when the world of monsters, men and elves combined to become one, and magic – otherwise known as chaos – first came into being.

The new teaser for the show reveals Michelle’s character Scian brandishing a special blade, before stating ominously: ‘All beginnings, all ends.’

Lenny’s character Chief Druid Balor appears to be channelling magic, ahead of the dreaded arrival of monsters into their world.

Bloody battles ensue, all set to the background of melodious voice of Sophia Brown’s character Éile, who’s singing inside what looks like a cave, surrounded by candlelight.

Scian, Éile and Laurence O’Fuarain’s character Fjall set out as a trio, heading towards a town that’s been ravaged by a fiery attack.

The first look at Blood Origin was released as a post-credits teaser to coincide with the season two finale of The Witcher, almost a year ago.

Everything Everywhere All At Once star Michelle plays Scian, the last member of a nomadic tribe of sword-elves, who embarks on a quest to retrieve a sacred blade that was stolen from her people.

Sophia plays Éile, a member of the Queen’s guard who leaves her post to become a travelling musician, while Laurence stars as Fjall, who was born into a clan of warriors sworn to protect a king, but instead sets out on his own revenge-filled warpath.

It’s A Sin star Nathaniel Curtis plays a character called Brían, while Lenny appears as Chief Druid Balor.

Other cast members include Mirren Mack, Dylan Moran, Jacob Collins-Levy, Lizzie Annis, Huw Novelli, Francesca Mills, Minnie Driver and Mark Rowley.

The Witcher: Blood Origin premieres on Sunday December 25 on Netflix.
