The Survivor contestant Roger Sexton has died aged 76, his family has confirmed.
The former marine appeared in the sixth season of the reality series in 2002, which was filmed in Brazil near the Amazon River.
In a statement posted on Sexton’s obituary, his loved ones announced that he died at his daughter’s home on October 26 after a battle with Lewy body dementia, one of the most common types of the disease.
‘Surrounded by his loving family and the caring assistance of Walla Walla Hospice, Roger was finally able to find peace,’ they penned.
According to the NHS, the common symptoms of Lewy body dementia include hallucinations, problems with understanding, thinking, and memory, confusion or sleepiness, slow movement, disturbed sleep, and fainting spells.

Sexton lasted 21 days on the challenge show, finishing 10th out of 16 contestants.
He was eventually voted off the programme after members of the group decided to oust him for forbidding the women to help build a shelter.
According to his obituary, Sexton was born in Oakland, California, and grew up in the Bay Area before enlisting in the marines and serving in Vietnam for one year.
His daughter Heather died aged just 16 in 1992 from viral pneumonia.
Tributes have been pouring in since news of Sexton’s death was announced, with one Survivor fan writing: ‘Just found out that Roger Sexton passed away after a battle with dementia.

‘Though I hardly agreed on any of his views, he was a unique character and an essential part of one of my favourite #Survivor seasons. Rest In Peace.’
Another said: ‘We are very saddened to hear the news about the passing of Roger Sexton from Survivor: Amazon. May he rest in eternal peace.’
Sexton is survived by his wife Diane, his daughter Amy and her husband Brian Evensen, and his grandchildren Drew and Hadley Evensen.
