Wynonna Judd thanked fans at the Country Music Awards for their ‘love and support’ after her mother Naomi Judd’s death in April.

The singer presented the award for vocal duo of the year on Wednesday at the ceremony in Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, but before announcing the winner, addressed fans on a personal issue.

She thanked the country music community and admitted she felt grateful for them during this difficult time.

Her mother was also her musical partner and died by suicide at age 76 last April, just one day before she was due to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Speaking on stage, Wynonna shared: ‘In death there is life, and here I am.’

‘Thank you for your love and your support. These past six months have been a time to grieve and a time to be grateful.

‘I am humbled and honoured tonight to still have a seat at the table of country music.

‘I have the opportunity of presenting the CMA award for duo, which mum and I won seven times.’

Recipients of the award, Brothers Osbourne, took home the prize for the fifth year in a row and commended the singer for her strength and working portfolio.

In his acceptance speech, TJ Osbourne acknowledged the country music icon: ‘To be here tonight and to be in the presence of Wynonna, while winning this award, will be one of the biggest highlights of my entire life.’

Completing the duo, John echoed TJ when he said: ‘It’s an absolute honour. we’ve learned so much from you and your family.’

Since Judd’s death, Wynonna has opened up about how she is coping and learning to navigate life without her mother.

She told People during a cover story interview: ‘I feel joy and sorrow.

‘I’m walking in paradox. I’m literally a walking contradiction. I feel joy. I feel pain. I feel light. I feel dark.

‘How am I coping? It depends on the [situation].’

Wynonna continued: ‘I’m on the phone talking and all of a sudden I’ll just begin to weep.

‘Then 10 minutes later, I’m making a dinner and I’m talking to my husband about our date night. Then my granddaughter comes and I cry some more.

‘I cry a lot. That’s OK… It doesn’t mean it’s a sign of weakness.
