To say Miriam Margolyes is never one to shy away from sharing her true feelings is an understatement – and she’s done so yet again when commenting on Matt Hancock’s starring role on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

She also blasted the affair he had with his now-girlfriend Gina Colangelo when they were both married and supposed to be social distancing, labelling him an ‘adulterous creep’.

Hancock’s appearance on the ITV programme has come under fire from members of the public and contestants alike, with the former health secretary claiming on the show that he’s hoping to seek ‘forgiveness’.

While being interviewed on The Six O’Clock Show in Ireland, Miriam was asked to shed light on what she thinks about the politician’s stint in the jungle… sparking a disapproving tirade from the Harry Potter star.

‘What a vile personality. What an appalling, adulterous creep. Why we have him on our televisions I don’t know,’ she stated, as the presenters guffawed in shock.

‘I don’t know why he was thought a proper person to entertain. He’s a vile human being. He nearly destroyed our national health service. He sent loads of people with Covid, old ladies, back into their care homes. I think he’s a detestable, vile, puny individual.’

Margolyes then took a swipe at the MP’s personal life, stating: ‘How anybody can let him be their lover, I don’t know. I think he’s vile, and I think the same of most of that government.’

A clip of the actress expressing her distaste for Hancock has since gone viral on social media, with one Twitter user responding: ‘The woman is absolutely spot on and I fully admire her for saying it as it is.’

‘If we had more people like you in the world it would be far better and a more honest place,’ someone else said, while another wrote: ‘I love you Miriam – you just spurt out what the vast majority of us think – thank you.’

In April this year, High Court judges ruled that patients being discharged from hospital into care homes at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic was ‘unlawful’.

While ministers claimed in the early days of the pandemic that a ‘protective ring’ had been placed around care homes, many suffered devastating outbreaks.

Meanwhile, 25,000 patients were discharged to care homes without being tested for coronavirus, despite it being known that the virus could be spread asymptomatically.

On Friday night’s I’m A Celebrity, Hancock said that he made a ‘mistake’ when he was caught on CCTV footage kissing his married aide when social distancing guidelines were in place, insisting he ‘fell in love’.

He later added to Charlene White: ‘Do you know what it is actually, what I’m really looking for is a bit of forgiveness, that’s what I’m really looking for.’

The Six O’Clock Show airs weekdays from 6pm on Virgin Media One in Ireland. I’m A Celebrity returns tonight at 9pm on ITV.
