Strictly Come Dancing 2022 has been livening up our Saturday nights for several weeks now – and in that time we’ve already seen some memorable performances.

From Hamza Yassin’s epic, points-grabbing salsa through to Tony Adams’ unique take on The Full Monty during Movie Week, it’s been another series to remember.

But as more celebrity couples hang up their dancing shoes for good after being voted off, the final – and one pair getting their hands on the coveted Glitterball Trophy – is drawing ever closer.

So just when will the Strictly final be taking place this year?

When is the Strictly Come Dancing final?

Although the BBC hasn’t specifically confirmed the date, it’s looking likely that the final of Strictly Come Dancing will take place on Saturday December 17.

That’s in line with the time it has aired in previous years, with the final normally taking place the week before Christmas.

In 2021 the final – which was won by Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice – aired on Saturday December 18, while 2020’s final, in which Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse were crowned champions, took place on December 19.

The 2019 final, won by Kelvin Fletcher and Oti Mabuse, was held a little earlier, on December 14 of that year.

This year’s final is set to take place on that date in spite of the scheduling changes made to accommodate the World Cup, which kicks off in Qatar on Sunday November 20.

The FIFA tournament is usually held over the summer, meaning it’s never clashed with Strictly’s September to December schedule.

But due to the extreme temperatures in Qatar, this year’s highly-anticipated event has been moved to November.

This means that the quarter-final and semi-final will be moving out of their Saturday slots for the first time in series history.

A BBC spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘Strictly Come Dancing will continue to bring glitter, glamour and glorious dancing to homes across the nation throughout the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

‘The quarter final of Strictly Come Dancing will now air live on Friday 2 December and the semi-final will now air live on Sunday 11 December on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.’

The World Cup final is set to take place the same weekend as the Strictly final, on Sunday December 18.
