Jeremy Clarkson shared his thoughts on Elon Musk’s new Twitter laws and claimed the new CEO should be paying him to use the social media network. 

In his Sunday Times column, the former Top Gear host made his feelings on the recent handover known, writing his outrage at the proposed new costs for blue tick verification. 

He began by saying: ‘This of course, brings me on to the internet’s biggest cesspit: Twitter. 

‘The last time I looked, I had seven million followers, but I rarely post anything because the responses I get are always unhinged. 

‘And now there is talk that the company’s new owner, Elon Musk, is going to make me pay for the blue tick that says I am who I claim to be.’

The 62-year-old went on to explain his value to Elon and his reasons for disagreeing with the new policies.

‘Why? I’m the one who helps bring advertisers to the platform. 

‘I’m the one who has to jump into a tank full of piranhas every time I say anything. You should be paying me.’

This outburst comes after the Tesla CEO caused ructions after introducing a whole load of rules and regulations after acquiring the platform last month. 

Following a hoard of celebrity exits from the social network due to their disagreement of the new boss’s handlings, Stephen Fry was among the latest famous faces to press delete.

The broadcaster posted a picture of scrabble letters spelling out the word ‘Goodbye’ to his over 2 million followers before vacating the app for good. 

Gigi Hadid departed the platform, condemning it for being a ‘​​cesspool of hate and bigotry’.

Space entrepreneur Elon bought Twitter for a cool $44billion (£37million) dollars after beginning his acquisition in April 2022.

By October, the app was transferred to Elon after he became the largest shareholder and the site’s new CEO.

However, following his appointment, a string of top leadership resignations has led to bankruptcy concerns. 

He made his fears known in a call to employees after sharing that Twitter would struggle to ‘survive the upcoming economic downturn’ if it failed to boost subscription revenue. 

Continuing on his tirade against the platform, Jeremy also voiced concerns over the controversial billionaire’s future aspirations for the app’s purpose. 

He said: ‘To make everything worse, Musk says he wants Twitter to be a haven for free speech, which is another way of saying that lots of American Trump enthusiasts will be allowed to share a stage that’s been dominated in recent times by an army of Tarquins who like to dangle from motorway gantries over the M25. 

‘Which is a bit like allowing Spurs and Arsenal supporters to share the same pub after a north London derby. 

‘Would you want to be in there as well? Quite.’
