I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! host Julia Morris was once speculated to be taking over on the UK version but while it never happened, she’s still ready and waiting to step in.
If her name sounds familiar, Julia hit headlines back in 2018 when she was rumoured to be in the running to take over from Ant McPartlin when he took a year-long break from I’m A Celebrity back in 2018.
While the job went to Holly Willoughby, Julia couldn’t help but have some fun and play along with speculation she might stand a chance.
Around the same time as this was happening, her weird, wacky and downright wonderful one-liners which started off each episode of I’m A Celebrity Australia went viral, picking her up plenty of fans around the world.
Some particular quips included Julia calling herself ‘The thinking man’s Angelina Jolie’, Victoria’s Secret Angel and part-time parachute’, ‘A Mardi Gras wrapped in some sort of fabulous frock scenario’ and even ‘Kylie Minogue’s body double’.
People were totally obsessed and Julia said she got an influx of followers as people got hooked on her humour.
While she’s continued to offer up plenty more, she concedes that the secret to them lies with having a great writing team.
‘Well sometimes we actually write them the morning of filming and the fun is in the urgency of going live and getting the jokes together as I’m running to the desk,’ she said.
‘Of course I also have two exquisite writers who are always thinking of such clever, silly things, some of which are too clever for me to think about.
‘The more daggy ones you can bet your bottom dollar I would have tried to force those in.’

When her jokes took off, Julia had already been back home in Australia for a few years after nearly a decade living in London.
She joked that her success really only came in the United Kingdom after she left.
‘When I moved to London I was already established in Australia and thought it wouldn’t take long to break through, and I am still trying, but things just exploded when this all happened,’ she said.
‘It definitely sent up some smoke signals from the UK that there was still a whisper of a chance for me.’

Returning to the jungle in Australia for the first time after the pandemic forced them to stay away, Ant and Dec are now back, but Julia say’s she’s ready to step in if they have a run-in with some wildlife. Or maybe even a celebrity.
‘As a lady in showbiz, you are always standing by for 30 per cent less, so you’re a cheaper option,’ she quipped.
But if that doesn’t eventuate, there’s a tiny (and like, really tiny) chance Julia might consider being a contestant.
‘I wonder if I know too much though,’ she says.
‘Plus I don’t know if I have the same intestinal fortitude as the celebrities that go into the jungle.

‘However the British version is shorter and only three weeks, whereas in Australia it is 984 months.
‘[So maybe, but] Thank god I’m through my menopause, there were a few years there where you wouldn’t have been able to let me off my leash like that.’
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
