I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star Scarlette Douglas has no idea that her A Place In The Sun co-star Jonnie Irwin could have just months to live, according to her pal.
Scarlette has been in the Australian jungle for over a week now, bonding with the likes of Matt Hancock, Boy George, Mike Tindall, Sue Cleaver, and Chris Moyles.
Of course, due to the show’s rules, the campmates have no contact with the outside world, nor are they informed about any events going on back home until their exit.
This means that A Place in the Sun host Scarlette, 35, has no idea about the severity of Jonnie’s condition.
Jonnie revealed his terminal diagnosis over the weekend, sharing for the first time that cancer in his lung has now spread to his brain.
The father-of-three admitted he ‘doesn’t know’ how long he could have left, but he is trying to maintain a positive attitude as he undergoes chemotherapy.

According to Mail Online, Scarlette was aware that Jonnie was unwell, but has no idea just how sick, with friends saying she will be ‘devastated’ upon learning the truth.
‘Scarlette will be absolutely devastated. She knew Jonnie had not been well but had no indication he’s only got months to live,’ a close source told the outlet.
‘They’re good mates and have known each other for years, it’s just so sad. As soon as she’s out and is told, Scarlette will be straight on the phone to him.’
Scarlette and Jonnie worked alongside one another on the Channel 4 lifestyle show for six years, with Scarlette quitting the series after seven years early in 2022.

As for Jonnie, he’s also known for his work on Escape to the Country.
Speaking to Hello! magazine about his diagnosis, the TV star, 48, shared his heartbreak of not being able to watch his young boys grow up.
A keen sportsman, the star married wife Jessica Holmes, 40, in 2016 and they share three sons – Rex, three, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac.

‘I don’t know how long I have left, but I try to stay positive and my attitude is that I’m living with cancer, not dying from it,’ he began.
‘I set little markers – things I want to be around for. I got into the habit of saying, “Don’t plan ahead because I might not be well enough.” But now I want to make plans. I want to make memories and capture these moments with my family because the reality is, my boys are going to grow up not knowing their dad and that breaks my heart.’
His first warning signs that something was wrong came in August 2020, when Jonnie’s vision became blurred while driving, while he was in Italy, filming for A Place in the Sun.

‘Within a week of flying back from filming, I was being given six months to live,’ he said, stating that he had tests as soon as possible.
‘I had to go home and tell my wife, who was looking after our babies, that she was on her own pretty much. That was devastating. All I could do was apologise to her. I felt so responsible.’

Cancer drugs are helping to prolong his prognosis, and Jonnie is determined to inspire others by sharing his journey.
‘One day, this is going to catch up with me,’ he added. ‘But, I’m doing everything I can to hold that day off for as long as possible. I owe that to Jess and our boys. Some people in my position have bucket lists, but I just want us to do as much as we can as a family.’
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
