Janet Street-Porter has stated that if she was on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! with former health secretary Matt Hancock this year, she would either ‘physically assault’ him or leave.

The broadcaster shared her ‘increasing anger’ at the MP as the Loose Women panellists discussed the other campmates’ reactions to Hancock in the jungle

Their co-star Charlene White was shown giving Hancock a hug after he confessed he was looking for ‘forgiveness’ following her confronting him over his affair during lockdown when she was unable to visit her aunt who was dying in hospital of Covid.

Revealing her dramatic reaction to new camp leader Hancock, Janet said: ‘I’m just getting increasingly angry with him, not less because he’s getting them food, and it’s a good job I wasn’t in the jungle this time because if I’d been around that campfire and he’d walked in, I would have either physically assaulted him or I would have to leave.’

‘I think best you leave,’ commented host Ruth Langsford after raising her eyebrows, which Janet then conceded was true.

Janet, who was in the jungle in 2004 alongside Vic Reeves, his wife Nancy Sorrell and Paul Burrell, then went on to raise a point about the ‘mentality’ of those in the camp.

‘When you’re watching at home, you’re going mad thinking, “Why are they being so nice to him?” He is providing food and you are hostages, you are in a hostage situation.

‘Okay you’ve been paid a load of money to be in a hostage situation, but it’s a hostage situation nonetheless.’

She then went on to reveal that it ‘drove her nuts’ that she couldn’t walk off ‘even 50 yards, 100 yards’ for a break from her fellow contestants.

‘You’re forced to sit round that fire and bond,’ Janet added.

The 75-year-old also suggested that Charlene’s behaviour towards Matt was because she was ‘a nice person’ who would ‘put her arm around’ someone she saw crying, but was also being ‘used’.

Hancock faces his sixth Bushtucker trial in a row on Monday night’s episode, where he will take on the Deserted Down Under challenge.

In his fifth Bushtucker Trial, the House of Horrors challenge saw Matt crawl around a giant dolls’ house full of pigeons, 2.5million flies and his biggest fear – snakes.

He managed to win nine out of 11 stars.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV. I’m A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm.
