Matt Hancock has found himself in the running to actually win I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! as he prepares to face a sixth Bushtucker Trial.
The former Health Secretary’s stint on the show has proven to be very divisive, with his role as a sitting MP, his actions during the Covid-19 pandemic and the fact he’s receiving plenty of screen time all making for plenty of drama.
On tonight’s episode, viewers will see him facing the Deserted Down Under challenge, and he could be around for a while longer with his odds slashed to win the whole thing.
That’s right – Hancock might be on track to become a very controversial King of the Jungle with his odds cut from 14/1 to 6/1, which has him tied with Owen Warner in third place behind Mike Tindall (3/1) and current favourite Jilly Scott (6/5).
Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: ‘Matt Hancock’s odds on winning this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! have been slashed again from 14/1 to 6/1 after being 33/1 before he entered camp.
‘He’s proving to be even more controversial after being voted Camp Leader in Sunday’s episode and is loving the spotlight.

‘Tonight we’ll see the former health secretary take on yet another trial, which is bound to gain him even more attention.’
Of course, plenty of viewers have been up in arms over the sitting MP’s appearance on the ITV show and have threatened to complain to television Watchdog, Ofcom.
In scenes that aired on Sunday night, Hancock was elected camp leader with Loose Women panellist Charlene White serving as his deputy, much to the annoyance of Boy George and Mike Tindall who are already talking about an uprising.
In his fifth Bushtucker Trial, the House of Horrors challenge saw Matt crawl around a giant dolls’ house full of pigeons, 2.5million flies and his biggest fear – snakes.
‘Oh my goodness, that’s alive,’ he exclaimed after coming to face-to-face with a slithering creature that unsuccessfully tried to strike him, while he went on to win nine out of 11 stars.
I’m A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
