That’s one way to greet your new boss.

The social media star from Made In Chelsea, 30, on changing nappies, pranks he regrets and why he loves Michael McIntyre.

Can you politely explain what FML means in this campaign you are doing with Not On The High Street?

Ah, the polite way of saying what FML moments are would be to call them Oh Dear Lord moments. We all have them.

It’s a very fun thing to get involved with and my life has been one big FML moment after another.

What would be your most recent one?

I’m quite small. I’m five-eight and he is about six foot four. I’m a hugger as well. I know that’s not the best way to be when you are meeting someone who is basically your boss. But I just went straight in for the hug as I was about to pitch this new show.

I was meeting a TV commissioner. I wanted a show to be commissioned that I had come up with. I had never met him before.

He went for the handshake. Being somewhat taller than me his arm went over me and as I hugged I went under his arm. So I ended up hugging his waist around the crotch area and he basically just tapped me on the head.

He then said, ‘Well, that’s the weirdest way to start a meeting.’ I thought, ‘I’m never getting this then. I might as well just leave.’ That was quite a doozy.

Did you get the commission?

What’s funny is we didn’t get the commission on that but we did get the commission on something else. So I don’t know whether it worked or not!

What FML moments have you been through with your girlfriend, Zara McDermott?

I was with Zara, my sister Louise and her husband, Ryan. I had never changed their newborn son’s nappy before. I have to say I was going into it very confident of my skills. Ryan, my brother-in-law, was literally coaching me through it but it was a stinker.

I said, ‘Can you not smell that?’ He was like, ‘Mate, you’re gonna have a kid one day. You’ve gotta deal with it.’ And I gagged and then threw up in his sink. Zara was present so that is an FML moment that I can add her into.

Do you and Zara have different ways of dealing with those FML moments?

Absolutely and this actually does tie into the Not On The High Street FML Edit. Zara loves a bath. If she’s had a bad day, it’s straight in the bath. One of the FML gifts is a bath bomb called Chill Pills and it’s in the shape of a pill.

Stuff like that is a great, quirky way of dealing with life’s problems and Zara definitely handles most problems in life with a bath. She spends half her life in the bath. I’m more of a sit-down shower to be honest.

You are famed on Insta and TikTok for your pranking. Any pranks you now regret?

There was one with Zara when I put talcum powder in her hair dryer and I thought that would be really funny. It was funny when it blew in her face but she had just come out of the shower and I didn’t realise that it had matted her hair. After that she didn’t even look at me for two days. It was tough. Of course I still put it online.

How is your bromance going with Towie’s Pete Wicks?

If I had it my way we would have cracked America and become superstars. Forget Ant and Dec! But if Pete had it his way he would probably say, ‘You have got more chance of a pig flying. We’re on the downturn, Sam. We are going nowhere near America!’

Is that down to your pranking?

It’s a host of things. The thing with Pete is he is like the Karl Pilkington to my Ricky Gervais in An Idiot Abroad. I am definitely talking myself up there calling myself Ricky Gervais but the beauty of Pete is he is so originally funny without knowing he’s funny.

Do you have any comedy heroes?

Comedian Michael McIntyre is a ‘hero’ of Sam’s (Picture: PA)

Michael McIntyre is a hero of mine. They always say don’t meet your heroes and I have heard that a lot of comedians are not the nicest of people. But when I did The Wheel he knocked on my green room door. I was really nervous because The Wheel is a huge thing. By the way, I had never even had a green room before. It had its own loo and everything.

More: Sixty Seconds

Bear in mind this is his second show of the day and they are long sittings. Anyway he came in and said, ‘I just want you to know I really love the stuff that you do so just go out there and have a really good time.’ I was like, ‘Holy f***, Michael McIntyre.’ He didn’t need to do that at all but I will never forget it.

You’ve said that hosting Love Island After Sun would be your dream job. Is that any closer to happening?

You’ll have to ask them. I could never host the main show because I think that has to be a woman. You have to have that strong, elegant stride down that pathway when something is about to go down. I don’t think you can have that from someone like me.

This is all wishful thinking by the way. We are not in talks. But because I am such a super-fan, if you were to send me into the villa to find out the inner workings, that would be a big tick for me.
