Stormzy has once again stolen all our hearts by proving he’s a die-hard Swiftie and fanboying hard when he got to meet the woman herself.

The pair crossed paths at the MTV EMAs where Taylor scooped up four of the six gongs she was in the running for – best artist, best video, best pop and best longform video.

Stormzy, who gave an epic performance, appeared to have just one mission for the night – a selfie with Taylor.

He announced to people in one video on Instagram: ‘Man’s trying to get a selfie with Taylor Swift! Man’s running around.’

Things moved fairly, erm, swiftly from then on, as he declared: ‘Man’s gonna meet Taylor!’ and ordering everyone, including himself presumably, to ‘relax’ before the big moment.

What followed was an absolutely adorable selfie, as the pair grinned together.

Sharing the snap on his Instagram grid, Stormzy simply captioned it: ‘🥹❤️’, before sharing another selfie to his stories declaring: ‘So happy’.

It’s the friendship we always needed, to be honest.

The love clearly goes both ways, as Taylor has previously spoken about being a fan of Stormzy’s too, when the pair were in the midst of a chart battle.

In 2019, her single Me!, featuring Brendan Urie, competed against Stormzy’s iconic hit Vossi Bop for the UK number one.

Taylor said at the time: ‘I love Stormzy. I’d happily lose to him.’

Stormzy ended up beating Taylor, securing his first UK number one.

Elsewhere at the EMAs, Harry Styles, Nicki Minaj, Muse and Gorillaz were among the global stars who also picked up top awards from the 20 gender-neutral categories.

Singer-songwriter Taylor ensured she thanked her fans for every award, saying at one stage: ‘You’re the reason that anything has every happened to me,’ and telling them they are the reason she’s ’employed’.

Her first prize of best long-form video was presented by John Lennon’s son and singer Julian.

Collecting the award she said: ‘I have been writing and directing my music videos for a long time but this was the first short film I have made and I felt like I learned so much about myself of how making film can be a natural extension of my storytelling just like songwriting.’

The musician also thanked actors Dylan O’Brien and Sadie Sink, who starred in the music video, which also later picked up best video, seeing off competition from As It Was, BLACKPINK’s Pink Venom, Doja Cat’s Woman, Kendrick Lamar’s The Heart Part 5, and Nicki Minaj’s Super Freaky Girl.

Harry Styles was the most-nominated artist of the night, and ending up winning one gong – best live and best UK and Ireland act, while US rapper Nicki was awarded best song and best hip hop artist, and Chloe won best R&B.

Hosted by couple Rita Ora and Taika Waititi, the night was a sparkling success, with epic performances and not to mention several costume changes from the lovebirds, and Taylor too, who walked the carpet in a bodysuit before changing to a glitter ball mini dress.

There was even a surprise message from the one and only Tom Cruise, as he introduced OneRepublic’s performance of I Ain’t Worried, which they wrote for Top Gun: Maverick.

The Hollywood star said he was ‘very grateful’ to the band and their frontman Ryan Tedder for recording the song.
