Taika Waititi delighted his fans by wearing a skirt when attending the 2022 MTV EMAs alongside partner Rita Ora.

The New Zealand movie director, 47, co-hosted the awards alongside Ora, 31 in what was the second EMAs ceremony since the pandemic to be hosted live in person.

Waititi’s glamorous look was made up of a grey floor-length skirt with a white shirt and grey waistcoat and one of multiple costume changes for the star.

Ora herself also opted for several outfit alterations over the course of the evening, switching from a gold dress to an Ellie Saab jumpsuit.

During the show, the Thor: Love and Thunder director joked that he was growing a little tired: ‘I’m down to my sixth costume change, I need a break.’

The awards show marked the first public appearance by the couple since their reported wedding in August of this year.

The EMAs ceremony was broadcast live from Dusseldorf in Germany.

Taylor Swift swept up four awards at the event, including gongs for best artist and best music video (for All Too Well: The Short Film).

Harry Styles was victorious in the live category, while Nicki Minaj won best hip hop artist and Gorillaz snapped up the best alternative prize.

Waititi and Ora, who hosted the EMAs in 2017, have officially been a pair since 2021. However, the two met each other for the first time in 2018.

During an interview with Johnathan Ross last week, Ora referred to Waititi as her ‘partner’ and didn’t directly address the marriage rumours.

She said: ‘It’s just nice to be able to do something fun with someone that is like, my favourite person. We’re just the same person.

‘It’s just nice to find someone that you can sort of have fun with and work with and respect and we respect each other’s work.’

She continued: ‘It’s nice to have space, but also be together at the same time.’

It was announced in October that the pair would be co-hosting this year’s EMAs, boosting their status as a power couple after their apparent wedding.
