Now it’s November, you might be wondering when Children In Need is.

The BBC’s annual fundraising event is back for 2022, taking over telly boxes for an evening of special programmes, performances and more, all in a bid to raise money to help disadvantaged UK youngsters.

In 2021, the appeal’s ‘on the night’ total soared to £39.3 million – bumped up to £51 million in total as further donations trickled in.

So, just when is it on, and who’s involved this year?

Here’s all you need to know.

When is Children In Need 2022?

Children In Need – aka Pudsey Day – is on Friday, November 18 this year.

This is when The Great SPOTacular Appeal Night show will air, meaning you’ll have an opportunity to call or text to make a donation.

That said, there’ll also be Children In Need programmes on in the lead up to the major fundraising day and telethon – and, if you wish, you can make a donation to Children In Need before November 18 by visiting the BBC’s dedicated website.

How to watch Children In Need 2022 on TV

The Great SPOTacular Appeal Night will air on BBC One on Friday, November 18 from 7pm onwards.

Not in? As well as watching the live show on TV, you can also tune in online via BBC iPlayer.

However, fans of TV presenter Matt Baker can find out how he got on during October’s Rickshaw Relay challenge in a one-off documentary airing before then, on Tuesday, November 15.

A special episode of DIY SOS will then air on Wednesday, November 16, too.

The episode will see presenter Nick Knowles, team Jules, Chris and Billy, plus designer Gabrielle Blackman and a group of volunteers, build a brand new home (from scratch) for Leeds charity Gateway Girls, in just nine days.

There will also be an Autumnwatch special on TV, and The One Show will also be fundraising again with The Surprise Squad.

Which celebrities are involved in Pudsey Day this year?

Presenting The Great SPOTacular Appeal Night are presenter Ade Adepitan, former Lioness Alex Scott, Bake Off original Mel Giedroyc, and comedians Jason Manford and Chris Ramsey.

Jason Manford is the newest addition to the line-up, who all presented last year alongside Graham Norton.

‘I’ve seen first-hand how donations can make a hugely positive impact to the lives of children and young people facing challenges, and provide them with an environment where they can thrive.

‘I really hope the public unite, go SPOTacular and give whatever they can, for BBC Children in Need this year.’

While co-presenter Mel Giedroyc added: ‘This year, more than ever children and young people facing challenges and barriers in their lives need our help… I know it is tough for everyone right now, but please give what you can, it will go on to make a positive and lasting difference to young lives.’
