Marvel star Chris Hemsworth is seen being put through his paces as an 80-year-old, living in an experimental retirement community for three days, in a brand-new TV show – before he lives through the experience of being ‘killed off’.
The ripped Thor: Love and Thunder actor has teamed up with some of the world’s leading longevity experts for new series Limitless on Disney Plus, where he attempts to unlock secrets of living a healthier, longer life.
The National Geographic show has another Hollywood heavyweight attached in the form of executive producer and writer Darren Aronofsky.
The trailer sees him taking on what he calls ‘six of the toughest tests of my life’, with clips of Chris hanging off a rope in a canyon, on top of a terrifyingly tall skyscraper and plunging into icy waters, as he confesses that the risk of death has him feeling a little ‘nervous’ (fair enough!)
However, in what is perhaps the most creative challenge, the crew set up an entire fake retirement village – Sunset Pines – where the star will reside in a specially prepared house, alongside actors and carers in his ‘community’, as he experiences life as an octogenarian.
In the exclusive clip, the detailed set shows digitally created pictures of an elderly Chris, alongside his wife, Elsa Pataky, hanging on the walls, as well as a mocked-up ID pass for the now 80-something.

The 39-year-old is also shown being dressed in a special suit made to mimic the feeling of him being almost 50 years older, limiting his movements, sight and hearing among other things.
Dr BJ Miller, a palliative care expert, is the brains behind the experiment, having written and spoken before on the transformative power of accepting ageing and death.
In the voiceover, he comments: ‘We are doing something bold and novel. We’re going to combine the arts and sciences to create a completely immersive experience for Chris, this constructed world of a retirement community.’

But it seems the most dramatic reveal is just around the corner as Dr Miller then adds: ‘And at the end of three days at Sunset Pines, we are going to kill Chris Hemsworth.’
