Morrissey has confused fans even more after announcing his upcoming album is no longer scheduled for release, just hours after he walked out in the middle of his concert.

The Smiths rocker was due to release his 14th solo studio album Bonfire of Teenagers in February with the spate of recent shows building up anticipation for the new music.

However, an announcement was made on Morrissey’s website on Monday stating that the album has been pulled from the slate.

A message read: ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’ is no longer scheduled for a February release, as stated by this site. Its fate is exclusively in the hands of Capitol Records (Los Angeles.)’

No reason was given for the delay and Capitol Records has not addressed the situation.

Fans were looking forward to hearing Morrissey’s new material, with Bonfire of Teenagers set to feature collaborations with Miley Cyrus, Red Hot Chili Peppers star Flea and Iggy Pop.

It comes after Morrissey, 63, shocked fans when he abruptly ended a gig in Los Angeles on Saturday without warning or explanation.

The Suedehead singer was around 30 minutes into his show at the Greek Theatre when he suddenly walked off the stage after performing his song Girlfriend in a Coma.

A bandmate then told the crowd: ‘Sorry, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the show is not going to continue. Very sorry. We’ll see you next time.’

No official reason has been given for his sudden departure, with fans speculating on social media.

Fans were left to speculate about the reason for the abandoned gig with no official explanation given.

One fan tweeted: ‘So, #Morrissey just walked off the stage at @Greek_Theatre after 30 min. Apparently he was too cold. Meanwhile, it’s in the 50s.’

Another said: ‘I think it’s absolutely right that a man in his 60’s makes his health & well-being a priority, even if it means rescheduling a show. Sad that so many people that are apparently big enough fans to go to a Morrissey show are angry at him for the unforgivable crime of being human.’

Morrissey made no mention of the controversy when he thanked fans for supporting the show in an Instagram post, writing: ‘Thank you for coming out last night, LA. We love you and are grateful for your support.

‘Please stand by for further announcements coming shortly.’
