Richard Madeley has hit out that the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! campmates for not pressing Boy George on his stint in prison.

In 2008, the Karma Chameleon singer was charged with the assault and false imprisonment of a male escort who he had handcuffed to a wall fixture and beat with a metal chain.

Boy George was sentenced to 15 months behind bars but was released for good behaviour after four months.

On Tuesday’s episode of Good Morning Britain, Madeley pointed out that the artist had not faced any difficult questions from his other campmates about his criminal past.

Speaking to co-presenter Susanna Reid. He said: ‘He’s not been questioned about it. He chained someone to a radiator for a very long time and beat them up.’

Susanna responded, saying: ‘Well he denies the beating.’

Madeley continued: ‘Well, he was convicted and spent four months in prison and no one has mentioned it to him at all.

‘I wonder if that’s because they’ve forgotten it.’

Susanna noted: ‘It was more than 10 years ago that it happened.’

Madeley then added: ‘Yeah. He says it was a psychotic episode partly fuelled by drugs, that’s his rationale.’
