Channing Tatum has hopped back in the saddle as the king of striptease, joined by franchise newcomer Salma Hayek, in the trailer for the final Magic Mike movie, Magic Mike’s Last Dance.

Last seen in 2015’s Magic Mike XXL, Tatum is once again Mike Lane, who we first see broke and working as a bartender in Miami after a business deal that went bust.

Hayek is seen throwing herself into the role after replacing original actress Thandiwe Newton following her exit from the movie earlier this year to ‘deal with family matters’.

She stars as a glamorous and wealthy socialite who is seen reigniting Mike’s love for dance when she asks him what it is he ‘really does’.

Cue him, of course, showing her in a sensual and streamy routine, before she convinces him to head to London with her to put on a show at one of the capital’s theatres.

‘People are numb, disconnected. We’re going to wake them up with a wave of passion they’ve never felt before,’ her character promises of their joint production at one point during the trailer.

The synopsis continues: ‘With everything on the line, once Mike discovers what she truly has in mind, will he—and the roster of hot new dancers he’ll have to whip into shape—be able to pull it off?’

Director Steven Soderbergh has returned once more to helm Magic Mike’s Last Dance, alongside writer Reid Carolin, who was responsible for the first two film’s screenplays as well, which were loosely based on Tatum’s own earlier experiences as an 18-year-old stripper.

The trailer certainly promises plenty of what made the first two movies magic (sorry not sorry), with slick routines on the stage, utilising a staircase, as well as some dramatic moves splashing around in rain effects.

When it comes to the dance troupe’s more improvised moment, it looks like that won’t be a disappointment either as the crew give an impromptu performance on a London bus, making for some rather surprised fellow passengers.

Fans were certainly keen on what they saw, with one commenting: ‘The best & most realistic franchise since The Godfather films.’

‘Yes PLEASE. I need this in my life,’ wrote another fan, while a third observed: ‘The franchise is going to go out with a bang.’

Another added: ‘The trilogy we didn’t know we wanted… but the trilogy we always needed.’

There was also high praise for Hayek, with one viewer playing on a quote of her character’s from the trailer: ‘Salma makes me believe a woman can have whatever she wants, whenever she wants.’

‘Way to go Salma!!!!!!!!!’ agreed another.

Other actors in the cast include Nancy Carroll and Gavin Spokes, alongside Ayub Khan Din, Jemelia George, Juliette Motamed and Vicki Pepperdine.

The first two movies enjoyed a global box office gross of nearly $300million (£252m), with the franchise since spawning the successful stage show Magic Mike Live, which has played in cities including London, Las Vegas and Berlin and is heading on an arena tour of the UK in April 2023.

Magic Mike’s Last Dance is released in cinemas on February 10, 2023.
