Iggy Pop has confirmed he will play a one-off Dog Day Afternoon outdoor show with a line-up of other punk legends.

The musician, 75, whose real name is James Newell Osterberg Jr, was dubbed the ‘godfather of punk’, so it’s only fitting that he shares the bill with Blondie and punk supergroup Generation Sex.

Generation Sex consists of Billy Idol and Tony James from Generation X as well as the Sex Pistols’ Steve Jones and Paul Cook.

The one-off show will take place in the open air in London’s Crystal Palace Park on July 1, 2023, and will feature a number of special guests.

Generation Sex will play a set consisting of punk classics from both Generation X and the Sex Pistols’ back catalogue.

Steve, 67, explained: ‘Just every now and then we find time to get together with old pals from back in the day, purely just for the craic and to have fun.

Debbie, 77, added: ‘We are excited to reunite with our friend, the one and only prince of punk, Iggy, for this special show in Crystal Palace Park next summer. Once more, with feeling!’

Iggy, whose career in music started as frontman for The Stooges in 1967 before carving out a successful solo career, and is set to release his 19th solo album, Every Loser, on January 6.

Tickets for Dog Day Afternoon go on general sale at 10am on Friday November 18.
