Kevin Spacey will be charged with a further seven sexual offences, it has been confirmed.

The Crown Prosecution Service has said the House of Cards actor will face charges over alleged offences against one man between 2001 and 2004.

The charges include three counts of indecent assault, three counts of sexual assault and one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.

Rosemary Ainslie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said: ‘The CPS has authorised additional criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 63, for a number of sexual assaults against one man between 2001 and 2004.

‘The CPS has also authorised one charge of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent. The authority to charge follows a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in its investigation.

‘The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr Spacey are active and that he has the right to a fair trial.’

In May, it was first reported that the Hollywood star, 63, would be charged with four counts of sexual assault against three men, with the offences allegedly taking place between 2005 and 2013 in London and Gloucestershire.

Ms Ainslie said at the time: ‘The CPS has authorised criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 62, for four counts of sexual assault against three men.

‘He has also been charged with causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent. The charges follow a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in its investigation.’

The CPS said it could not confirm or deny whether or not Spacey will need to be extradited to the UK.

The Crown Prosecution Service revealed that one man claims he was sexually assaulted in 2005.

Another claims he was sexually assaulted in 2008 and forced to engage in a sex act against his will. These alleged incidents took place in London.

A third man claimed he was sexually assaulted in Gloucestershire in 2013.

In July, Spacey appeared in court at the Old Bailey to deny five allegations relating to three men, who are now in their 30s and 40s.

Spacey rose to fame in the 1990s starring in films such as The Usual Suspects, Se7en and American Beauty before going on to enjoy continued success starring as US President Frank Underwood in Netflix series House of Cards.

He has won two Oscars, a Bafta, Tony and Golden Globe while also receiving multiple Emmy nominations.
