Matt Hancock’s girlfriend Gina Coladangelo will be waiting for him in Australia when he leaves the I’m A Celebrity jungle.

His former aide was pictured clutching her passport as she prepared to board a flight to Brisbane from Heathrow.

The ex-health secretary’s cabinet career was ended by leaked footage of the couple locked in a passionate embrace, breaking his own social-distancing rules.

Mr Hancock, 44, who resigned shortly after the scandal last year, has left his wife Martha, mother of his three children, while Ms Coladangelo, 45, split from her businessman husband.

In conversation with jungle campmate Babatunde Aleshe, the MP came out swinging to defend their romance, which he admitted had been ‘tough’. He said: ‘I messed up and I fessed up. I resigned and it’s no excuse but I fell in love, right?’

He added that he and Ms Coladangelo were ‘totally’ still together, gushing: ‘That’ll be the best thing about being kicked out – seeing her on 
the bridge.’

Meanwhile, broadcasting watchdog Ofcom has received 1,968 complaints about the ITV series, with 1,100 of those objecting to Mr Hancock’s presence.
