I went viral for wearing a white dress to a friend’s wedding but it wasn’t wrong – I don’t have to follow people’s rules

A WOMAN went viral after people slammed her for wearing a white dress to a friend’s wedding.

Lacey-Jade Christie was flooded with criticism after posting a picture of her white frock on TikTok.

Australian Lacey-Jade hit back at critics in an article for Mama Mia where she explained that she had done nothing wrong.

She said: “Not every person will follow your rules. Not every bride wears white, not every wedding includes a bride and not every wedding guest or dress code will fit your idea of what’s appropriate and that’s ok.”

The fashion-forward content creator explained that she was attending a queer wedding where the brides had decided to shun tradition.

One of the brides wore teal while the other went for a sequin red gown and the guests were invited to wear whatever they liked.

DRESS IMPRESSED
I’m plus size and tried on the viral TikTok dress – I felt so sexy

According to Lacey-Jade in some cases this was a traditional wedding guest outfit, while in others it was a sheer mini dress or a power suit.

She said: “This is Queer Culture. The fashion on display, the vibe in the air, the photo booth pictures, they show what my community can be when we are allowed to truly be ourselves. And my outfit was not the most revealing of the evening.”

One person said: “No no no on all levels sorry.”
