It’s looking like Matt Hancock might be staying in the jungle past the first elimination, if the odds are anything to go by.

The former health secretary has faced a lot of controversy and backlash for his decision to take part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! this year, joining the likes of Lioness Jill Scott, pop icon Boy George, and the camp’s first ever royal Mike Tindall.

He’s had to face six bushtucker trials in a row, and only days ago a huge banner demanding his exit was flown above the camp.

But, despite that, there are other celebs who are bookmakers’ favourites to be evicted.

Many viewers have complained about his presence, vowing to stop watching if it continues to be ‘the Matt Hancock show’.

They may not need to worry about this much longer since elimination voting opened on Wednesday so contestants are starting to be whittled down until we crown a new King or Queen of the Jungle.

And while there hasn’t yet been a confirmed date, sources suggest that the camp could be rocked by the first elimination this Friday (November 18), so we’re only hours away.

According to BritishGambler.co.uk, Boy George is actually the favourite for first elimination, as his odds have ducked from10/1 to just 3/1.

A spokesperson for BritishGambler.co.uk said: ‘Although Scarlette Douglas and Charlene White have been the bookmakers’ early favourites to be the first campmates to be voted out, it now appears that it may be Boy George who will leave the jungle first. Over the last few days, Boy George hasn’t done much to help himself in terms of impressing the public, who in the end, decides who stays and who goes.

‘At the end of the day, this show is a popularity contest as it’s the people who decides the winner. And as we’ve seen on social media, many fans are getting quite worked up by Boy George’s behaviour, which has triggered talk about his past conviction, amongst other things. As it stands, 57% of bets have been on Boy George to be the first to leave.

‘As for Matt Hancock, this has become very political (excuse the pun). Whilst he’s currently in 4th place to win the show, he’s also in 4th to be the first one to be eliminated as more and more people are getting fed up with this new “celebrity” status.’

Meanwhile, Coral Bookmakers have said Charlene is the favourite to leave the jungle in the first elimination.

Her odds are evens while Hancock’s odds are 4/1, with a spokesperson for Coral saying: ‘Charlene has possibly struggled to catch the public’s imagination as much as some of the other celebs this year, and as a result she’s a short-price to be the first celebrity eliminated from the jungle this year.’

Hancock’s former aide and now girlfriend, who he was caught kissing during the height of the Covid pandemic, recently arrived in Australia to support him.

Asked whether she’s impressed, she said: ‘It would be difficult not to be impressed, he has done really well. He’s made of tough stuff.’

She added to the MailOnline that ‘obviously’ she’s missed Hancock, and said that the campmates ‘all seem to be getting on okay,’ with their Bushtucker trials.

Hancock, who is a sitting MP, sparked fury with his appearance on the show, and while some have argued that he’s shown himself to be likeable, others disagree, and many haven’t forgotten about his actions during the height of the pandemic.

Last week, Hancock told his fellow campmates that he was ‘looking for forgiveness’ after being grilled on breaking his own lockdown rules.

In the Bush Telegraph, Hancock said: ‘In a way, lots of the campmates asked questions that the public have got as well, and it’s only respectful to just give completely straight and truthful answers.’

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
