Mike Tindall might be making history as the first member of the Royal family to sign up for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, but a friend of the former rugby star says he seems ‘bored’ as Matt Hancock receives all the attention.

While casting Mike was a coup for the series, the spotlight has been all over the disgraced sitting MP since he entered camp as a latercomer alongside Seann Walsh.

The campmates have clashed over Hancock being there and the public was just as outraged and kept targeting him to do the Bushtucker trials.

Now a friend of Mike has said he believes the star has been ‘struggling’ because of being part of what he labelled ‘The Matt Hancock Show’

TV presenter Alex Payne, who co-hosts The Good, The Bad, and The Rugby podcast with Mike and former I’m A Celebrity star James Haskell, has said he can tell by watching the series that Mike has become ‘bored’.

‘It’s been very odd for us watching him in there [the jungle] knowing him as well as we do, and just sort of seeing the motions,’ he said.

‘I think this week he’s struggling a little bit with it and he’s been getting quite bored with it all because it’s become the “Matt Hancock Show”.’

Alex added that: ‘What I do like is for the pale, male, stale brigade – middle-aged blokes – he’s actually holding the end up alright’.

While Mike has been making headlines for his hilarious (and quite frankly, impressive) rapping skills, and dishing out some goss on his famous family, Matt has generated plenty of attention for simply being there.

When landing in Australia on Tuesday, Hancock’s girlfriend Gina Coladangelo insisted it was ‘difficult not to be impressed’ by what he’s done so far on the show, however many thousands would disagree.

On the same day, it was revealed that regulator Ofcom had been hit with almost 2,000 complaints about Hancock being in the jungle.

However, Alex said that if he was willing to tackle another tune, Mike might get some love from the public and have a bit more excitement in being voted for some Bushtucker Trials.

‘He fired out both raps, he did [nail it], but he did both on the first show,’ Alex said.

‘Those are pretty much his party pieces. So he may have to rap again in week two to reinvigorate the vote.’

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
