The Commitments
The Commitments On Tour (Picture: Supplied)
‘Stirring’ is the word for this musical based on Booker prize-winning Irish author Roddy Doyle’s book in which a group of young working-class Dubliners find success as a soul covers band. Classic hits perfromed live include River Deep, Mountain High, I Heard It Through The Grapevine and many more.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel stars Hayley Mills (above) and Rula Lenska (Picture: Johan Persson)
Hayley Mills and Rula Lenska are among the ensemble in this stage adaptation of Deborah Moggach’s novel, which also inspired a hit film, centred on a group of adventurous British pensioners who move to India and form an unconventional retirement community. Expect a spirit-lifting tale about finding a second wind.
Marvellous
Catch this heart-warming play while you can (Picture: Soho Place)
You’ve got just 10 days left to see this supremely heartwarming and inventive play about the brilliant Neil Baldwin, a man diagnosed with learning difficulties as a boy who has defied labels to live a life of remarkable adventures – from working as a circus clown and setting up his own football team to making friends with everyone from Ken Dodd to Gary Lineker.
Until November 26, Soho Place, London.
Saturday Night Fever
Boogie on down to this classic (Picture: Kenwright.com)
This show based on the iconic 1977 disco-dancing film offers a fail-safe good time. Its Italian-American hero Tony Manero once more boogies in a sharp white suit, while an on-stage group of actor/musicians belt out the classic Bee Gees hits.
Until Saturday, Princess Theatre, Torquay; Tuesday to November 26, Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham.
