Kate Mara has revealed she recently became a mother for the second time.

The American actress, who is married to Billy Elliot star Jamie Bell, announced in July that she was expecting their second child together.

House of Cards star Kate made that announcement in a super low-key way, sharing a photo of her and Jamie on a red carpet and writing on Instagram: ‘There are three of us in this pic.’

Now, in keeping with tradition, Kate shared the news that she and Jamie had welcomed their new arrival in a casual – and cute – way.

She again took to Instagram, sharing a photo of a merborn baby swaddled in such a way that you could only see tiny toes, and wrote: ‘Had a baby a week ago.’

And while she didn’t announce the little boy’s name, she added: ‘Here are his feet.’

The couple are already parents to a three-year-old daughter, who they welcomed in May 2019.

Kate had also announced her daughter’s arrival with a sweet snap of her toes, writing: ‘We had a baby a couple weeks ago… Here are her feet.’

Like with her son, Kate didn’t announce their daughter’s name – and three years later still has not done so, preferring to keep her family life firmly out of the spotlight.

She did however open up about her daughter’s somewhat difficult birth, saying she had been ‘genuinely terrified’ after finding out she would need a Caesarean section over the home birth she had hoped for.

The actress was induced at 36 weeks because she was suffering from Cholestasis, a liver disease that can occur in late pregnancy and potentially harm the unborn baby, and needed an emergency C-section after developing a fever following an epidural.

Despite having a ‘premonition’ that surgery wouldn’t go well, all was okay in the end and Kate said she ‘wouldn’t do anything differently’ because her daughter arrived safely.

Rocketman star Jamie also has a nine-year-old son from his first marriage to Evan Rachel Wood.

Jamie and Kate tied the knot in July 2017, 12 years after first meeting in Hollywood and two years after revealing that they were dating at the Met Gala in 2015.

Their romance blossomed when they starred alongside Miles Teller and Michael B Jordan in the 2015 adventure flick Fantastic Four.
