Lottie Tomlinson has opened up on new mum life, saying baby son Lucky helped her to ‘come out the other side’ after losing her mum and sister.

The star welcomed Lucky with partner Lewis Burton in August this year and has been absolutely loving it.

‘New mum life is amazing and I think it’s such a nice thing for me because obviously I’ve been through a lot the past few years so to come out the other side, and now I’ve got him, it almost feels like I’ve got through everything and I’ve got what I’ve always dreamed of,’ she told Metro.co.uk. ‘It’s amazing and I’m loving it.’

Lottie, 24, added: ‘I’m lucky because I’ve got a very well behaved baby, he’s sleeping well. I think the only struggle was the first few weeks, adapting, and obviously you’ve just given birth so all of that stuff was quite tough but really I can’t complain.’

‘I think [the only surprise was] just the immense love that you feel. I knew I’d love him but the feelings you’ve kind of never felt before, they’re so overwhelming. I don’t think anything can prepare you for that,’ she added.

Lottie’s mum Johannah Deakin died aged 43, in 2016 following a battle with leukaemia. In 2019, Lottie also lost her younger sister, Félicité, at the age of 18, following an accidental drug overdose.

Now partnering with Sue Ryder for their Empty Chair campaign, which raises awareness of the difficulty surrounding meal times for those dealing with grief, Lottie told us what her experience was like.

She said of being in the public eye while grieving: ‘It was definitely a nice thing because there was so much support and there was always so much love given to us online, and from the fans.

‘So for me, it was really nice but I guess at the same time, it was hard because everything is kind of judged, what you’re doing and how you’re coping with it, and the ways that you’re dealing with it. But overall, I had some really amazing [support].’

Lottie added of her grief: ‘It’s something you’re always working on and trying to find new ways to deal with it. I think I’m lucky that I’ve got to the point I’ve got to in my grief and I feel good in the way I live my life and cope with it now. But it’s still hard and it’ll always be there. I think it’s about finding ways to cope with it.’

Lottie is supporting Sue Ryder’s latest campaign, The Empty Chair, which aims to encourage family and friends to be Grief Kind by offering those who are grieving a seat at their table so that no one has to go through grief alone.
