You’re not going to believe it but this is Owen Wilson channeling his inner Bob Ross for new film-Rishma Dosani-Entertainment – Metro

There are not many times that the term ‘unrecognizable’ is used for someone who has genuinely transformed – but Owen Wilson actually looks unrecognizable in the first picture from his new film, Paint.

The Marry Me actor has taken on the role of iconic artist Carl Nagle in the upcoming flick, who more than slightly resembles the late Bob Ross.

In the snap, the 53-year-old could be seen posing with a paintbrush and board in hand, beside a stunning snowscape.

His hair was styled in a perm, with a pipe resting in his mouth as he worked on his latest creation.

Paint, based on 2010 screenplay The Blacklist, is slated for release next year, and will follow Owen as Carl, the number one TV painter that Vermont has to offer.

The renowned artist has everything, his ‘signature perm, a custom van and fans hanging on his every stroke’ – until a new arrival makes a splash on the small screen.

The official synopsis reads: ‘Carl Nargle, a local treasure with a soothing whisper of a voice, has been hosting his own painting show on Vermont public television for decades.

‘His art captivates and has attracted the attention of many women over the years, especially those who work at the station. But Carl is in a rut, and the station isn’t pulling in ratings.

‘When a new painter is hired to revitalize the channel, Carl’s own fears regarding his talents as a painter are brought to the forefront.’

Owen will star alongside Michaela Watkins, Stephen Root, Ciara Renee and Luisa Strus in the movie, with Brit McAdams serving as director.

‘We’re thrilled to finally work with the boundless and versatile talent of Owen Wilson, as he effortlessly brings Carl Nargle’s character to life from a savvy script and direction by Brit McAdams,’ Arianna Bocco, President of IFC Films, told Deadline of the upcoming movie.

‘Paint has all the makings of a quotable comedic masterpiece, and we hope audiences of all ages are ready for a lot of laughs and a lot of heart.’

Brit agreed: ‘In every step of making the film, we’ve fought to team up with talented collaborators who are also good people.

‘From our first conversation, IFC felt like the perfect home for Paint, not only because of how much they love the film and how respected they are in the industry, but also because of who they are as individuals. We’re all beyond excited to have them add their signature to this picture.’

While Owen isn’t technically starring as Bob, the late painter made a name for himself due to his series, The Joy Of Painting – which aired on PBS from 1983-1994.

In the beloved half-hour episodes, he would guide budding artists through lessons, helping them create their own masterpieces.

Paint will be released in cinemas on April 28, 2023.
