Matt Hancock has created quite the commotion with his I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! signing, and now viewers have picked up on something else.

The Conservative MP joined the likes of Boy George, Chris Moyles, and Jill Scott in the jungle this year, as the show returned to Australia for the first time since the pandemic.

However, his appearance has not been without criticism, as angry viewers at home initially voted for him to do every trial.

Ahead of his jungle stint, the former Health Secretary had vowed to use it as an opportunity to raise awareness of Dyslexia.

He expressed his desire to talk about his Dyslexia Screening and Teacher Training Bill but, as far as we know, this hasn’t happened.

Of course, the show is edited to around one hour each night, meaning conversations might have been had amongst campmates – but viewers watching back home haven’t heard a peep about Dyslexia.

One person who has called out Hancock, 44, for failing to mention his condition is Charlotte Kirk, an actress best known for her role in Ocean’s 8.

She revealed on Instagram that she also has Dyslexia and had hopes that Hancock would shine a light on the reality of it.

‘I’m dyslexic and I posted that on my Instagram Stories the other day,’ she told the Mirror before furiously adding: ‘I think it’s shameful on him, shameful.’

Twitter users also aren’t impressed, with one tweeting: ‘So what I find really interesting is that Hancock said he was on #ImACelebrity to highlight dyslexia. I have watched every single episode and he has not uttered a word. What a liar.’

What are you making of Matt Hancock in the jungle?Comment Now

‘Matt Hancock why are you not serving the constituents who voted for you? You’ve done nothing for dyslexia so why are you there?’, slammed another.

‘I’ve not heard Matt Hancock talk much about his dyslexia… seems the awareness campaign has taken a back seat!’, wrote a third.

One I’m A Celeb fan also went all out with the sarcasm, tweeting: ‘A thread about everything I’ve learned so far from Matt Hancock about dyslexia while he’s been on I’m A Celebrity…’, and, you guessed it, there were no tweets in the thread.

Some famous faces have also called out the ‘irony’ of it all, with comedian Rosie Jones tweeting ahead of this year’s I’m A Celeb: ‘Hancock wants to go into I’m A Celeb to, “raise awareness” of dyslexia. The man was health secretary during a pandemic, where thousands of people with disabilities lost their lives. But now he can make a difference, by eating beans from a tin in a jungle.’

Has Hancock even mentioned dyslexia? #ImACeleb

So Matt Hancock went into the jungle on the pretence of raising the profile of his condition. If I hear him say dyslexia one more time I swear I will scream, it’s like he can’t talk about anything else #ImACeleb

Hancock previously wrote for Metro.co.uk that finding out he was dyslexic ‘changed my life’ at the age of 18.

He said he was ‘worried’ that his condition would hinder him during Covid briefings and asked for help prior to appearing on TV so he knew how to pronounce ‘tricky words’.

‘It was moments like this that made me realise I had to do something to help others suffering with the same difficulties. So, last December, I launched my dyslexia campaign for universal screening in primary schools in England. This means that no child leaves school not knowing if they’re dyslexic’, he wrote.

He went on to say he was ‘struck’ by the number of people writing to him to share their stories about living with dyslexia.

However, despite being vocal about his dyslexia in the past, as far as I’m A Celeb goes, he’s been pretty silent.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
