The Elton John Aids Foundation received a hugely generous donation of $1million (£840,000) from the LA Dodgers.

Sir Elton, 75, is saying goodbye to touring with his final Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, and took to the iconic stadium for a string of shows.

It turned out to be a very special occasion, with Billie Jean King, who’s a minority owner of the baseball team, joining him on stage and presenting him with a huge cheque for $1m.

The official account for the charity tweeted a picture, writing: ‘Last night, the hugely generous @Dodgers Chairman and principal owner, Mark Walter and tennis legend, friend of @ejaf and Dodgers co-owner @BillieJeanKing joined @eltonofficial on stage to present a cheque to @ejaf for $1 million. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.’

The Elton John Aids Foundation was established in 1992 and is one of the leading independent Aids organisations in the world.

The organisation has reportedly raised around $600m (£500m) to support HIV related programs in fifty-five countries since it’s inception.

Sir Elton is nearly finished with his final ever tour, with the iconic musician recently admitting that ‘all he wants to do is stop’.

Speaking about it all coming to an end, he shared on Lorraine: ‘I said when I was announcing the tour, it’s the travelling I don’t want to do anymore, I don’t want to tour.

‘There may be an instance where, like when Kate Bush did at the Hammersmith Apollo, where you do a two week run. I haven’t even thought about that yet.’

The Rocket Man hitmaker continued: ‘All I want to do is stop. Take a deep breath.

‘I’m not going to plan anything. I don’t want to be away from my family, I turn 76 next year and if I get 14 years I’ll be 90, so it’s like, just think about it from a humane point of view.

‘I want to be with my family.’
