Machine Gun Kelly turned heads at the 2022 American Music Awards in a spikey purple suit as he delivered a passionate speech about his position in the rock community.
Accepting the award for favourite rock artist, the rapper-turned-rockstar addressed the negative comments surrounding his change of style.
Proving he means business, the 32-year-old took the stage in a purple suit ensemble that sent a message, to say the least.
Covered from head to toe in long, silver spines that stuck out at all angles, the controversial figure let everyone know he was untouchable in more ways than one.
Paired with studded, black biker boots and a mop of peroxide blond hair, MGK bent over the mic stand, which didn’t accommodate for his 6ft 4 height, and got a few things off his chest, award raised above his head in victory.
Beginning his acceptance speech, the artist complained: ‘I just want to say I’m petitioning for larger mic stands next time.

‘This suit is really uncomfortable to pee in.’
Following on from his comments about the outfit – which continually poked Lionel Richie in the face as the pair sat next to each other in the audience – he addressed murmurs questioning his eligibility as a rock performer.

‘There have been some people in the rock community who have called me a tourist, but they’re wrong.
‘I’m a rocketman.
‘We weren’t born on the moon but we looked at it and we were curious and then we went there, supposedly.
‘These last two rock albums to me were me going to the moon, and I’m not done exploring the universe.
‘I am all genres, I’ll see you…’ the celebrity added, before he was bleeped out as viewers watched him throw down the microphone, seemingly breaking it in the process.

The artist, who usually hits the press for his famous relationship with Megan Fox, wasn’t the only one to cause a stir at the award ceremony.
A star-studded red carpet had photographer’s flashes going like the clappers to capture one sequined outfit after another.

Dove Cameron ditched her squeaky-clean Disney vibes and showed her inner goth girl in a deconstructed, black maxi-skirt and nylon parka.
The star went with a grungy hair and make-up look, winging her eyes with dramatic black liner and slicking her hair back bar two thin strands she plaited down her face.
Pink prepared for her comeback performance by walking the carpet in a fringed, black and yellow mini dress that featured lightning bolt-shaped cut-outs down her middle.

However, singer Bebe Rexha stole the show in red tulle ruffles that dominated the carpet.
The dress was larger than life and puffed around her body before trailing to the floor behind her and pooling at her leather thigh-high-boot-clad legs.
Overall, the celebrity of the night was Taylor Swift who has been cleaning up at award shows after releasing her latest studio album and upcoming tour dates.
Taking home six trophies, the Midnight singer didn’t seem fazed by the recent tour ticket debacle that left desperate fans without seats at her upcoming American shows.
