Ryan Reynolds certainly has a way with words, and he’s sent a bold good luck message to Wales’ World Cup squad.
The Hollywood actor, who is co-owner of non-league Wrexham alongside Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney, has delivered a brilliant message of support ahead of the nation’s World Cup opener against the United States on Monday evening.
Ahead of the Dragons’ first game at the finals since 1958, he said in a video for WalesOnline: ‘Hey, this is Ryan Reynolds. I just wanted to send all my best wishes to the entire Welsh football club on their way to Qatar to compete at the World Cup.
‘I’m actually sitting here right now with my best friend and my co-pilot at Wrexham AFC, Mr Rob McElhenney.’
Philadelphia-born Rob, 45, admitted he’s splitting his loyalties this evening as Wales battle the USA in the Group B clash at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium.
I just want to say “good luck but not too much luck,”‘ he quipped. ‘I mean, maybe a draw. A draw would be nice. Play your hearts out, though.’
The Deadpool actor took a more direct approach, teasing: ‘I’m so sorry about him. Crush all of your enemies, Drink the blood of your enemies.
‘Rob and I are actually in the car right now because we are driving to Qatar. Go get ’em.’

Last week, the duo were honoured by the Welsh Government, the Football Association of Wales and S4C for promoting the country and its language.
The pair, who took full control of National League club Wrexham in February 2021 and have shared their story in Disney+ series Welcome To Wrexham, were given the Dragon Award at a Wales To The World event in New York.
Meanwhile Ryan, who is expecting his fourth child with wife Blake Lively, is now exploring buying Canadian National Hockey League side Ottawa Senators but it’s not something he will be able to do on his own.
‘I am trying to [buy the Senators]. It’s very expensive, so I need a partner with really deep pockets,’ he confirmed.
Explaining the plan, he jokingly added: ‘It’s called a consortium, when you form a group together to buy an entity and it’s such a fancy way of saying, “I need a sugar mommy or a sugar daddy”, and if that doesn’t work out, I’ll buy a US senator which anyone can afford.’
