Marcus Mumford went through quite the ordeal before his show in Exeter, telling the crowd he’d been bitten by a dog while riding his skateboard.

The Mumford and Sons star, who recently released his first solo album, is currently on tour around the UK and America.

He arrived in Exeter on Sunday, and it was clearly an eventful day.

He said he was headed towards the Lilac Bakery in Cowick Street on his skateboard when a greyhound bit him, before the dog was picked up by its owners.

The singer said the owner put it down to him being on his skateboard, with Marcus also expressing his hopes that he wouldn’t be leaving the city with any ‘rabies’.

Erm, we hope so too Marcus.

While he admitted the bite hurt, the iconic musician seemed to be doing okay during his set, which started earlier than expected due to the support act not being able to perform.

Marcus referred to it as a ‘homecoming’ gig, with the star living only a few miles away in Ide, Devon, with his wife, actress Carey Mulligan, and their children Evelyn and Wilfred.

He also said he hopes to reunite with the band soon.

But for now, he’s focusing on his solo album – and he’s gone big for it, managing to get Steven Spielberg to direct the music video for his track Cannibal, which was filmed on a mobile phone.

‘On Sunday 3rd July in a high school gym in New York, Steven Spielberg directed his first music video, in one shot, on his phone. Kate Capshaw was the almighty dolly grip,’ Marcus wrote on Instagram.

‘I’ve been overwhelmed by the support of the people around me to bring this music to you, and I cannot hope to express all of my gratitude. When people get it, it blows my mind. Kate and Steven just got it, and I cannot thank them enough. Thank you Kate. Thank you Kristie. Thank you Steven.’

As if that wasn’t enough, Carey also worked on the costumes and sound, meaning it resulted in a very star-studded music video.
