This Morning star Vanessa Feltz has revealed her daughter asked her to plead with everyone to get their flu vaccine after being on a drip in hospital for several days.

Sharing an update on her daughter’s condition, the broadcaster recorded a video from the hospital and uploaded the footage to her 228,000 followers.

Vanessa is mother to two daughters, Allegra, 36, and Saskia, 33, from her marriage to ex-husband Michael Kurer, but has yet to disclose which of her girls has fallen ill.

The presenter appeared in a black face mask and explained one of her daughters had fallen ‘terribly unwell’ with flu and was still undergoing treatment after being there since last Thursday.

Captioning the post with an update, Vanessa shared why she was urging everyone to get vaccinated: ‘Speaking from my daughter’s hospital bed.

‘She has been on a drip since Thursday. She has “flu”. She has been vaccinated.

‘The consultant said if she hadn’t things would be even worse. She says to ask you please get your “flu” vaccine.’

Expanding on her written message, the star delivered a plea in a selfie-style to her camera.

She said: ‘It turns out that what she’s got is pure and simply flu.

‘It’s influenza, it’s the flu bug that all the doctors probably warned us was coming this winter and she’s got a particularly virulent horrible, horrible case of it and guess what? She has been vaccinated!

‘What all the specialists have said to us is that if she hadn’t been, she would be even worse, and believe me even worse honestly doesn’t bear thinking about so she asked me to do this, she asked me to say to you please, please, please get your flu vaccine because she wouldn’t want what she’s going through to happen to anyone else and neither would I – lots of love.’

Have certain health conditions
Are pregnant
Are in long-stay residential care
Receive a carer’s allowance, or are the main carer for an older or disabled person who may be at risk if you get sick

Friends and fans rushed to the comments to offer their well wishes for the personality’s daughter’s recovery.

Telly favourite Ruth Langsford wrote: ‘Sending her wishes for a speedy recovery Vanessa and lots of love to you and all the family x x [sic]’.

Sheena Lynch offered: ‘Sending love and prayers of healing IJN’ with a praying hands emoji and red love heart.

‘Oh Vanessa, how horrible for you and for her. Sending much love and get well soon wishes,’ Elizabeth Day shared with the star.
