‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin has got himself into ridiculous shape – but WWE fans expecting him to get back in the ring at WrestleMania 39 could be disappointed.

The Texas Rattlesnake made a sensational comeback to beat Kevin Owens at WrestleMania in his home state of Texas earlier this year, which led to plenty of speculation that his recent workouts are to prepare for a match when the annual showcase returns to Hollywood in April.

However, in a new Instagram video the legendary former world champion revealed he’s got himself down to less than 232lbs and explained he wasn’t happy with his figure, which shows it really can happen to anyone.

He said: ‘People have been speculating, “Hey Steve, what are you doing? What are you training for? Are you training for an event?” Speculate what you want for.

‘I just simply looked in the mirror and realised I look like s**t, so I called my diet coach up. And my macros are currently, give or take, roughly around 2650 calories, 300-320 grams of protein, 150 grams of carbs on a regular day, will spike at 420 on a load up.

‘I still drink beer on Friday nights. Get three Broken Skull IPAs, and that’s pretty much it. I’m probably, as far as body weight goes, sub-232, the leanest I’ve been in forever.’

He added that he’s found it tough looking ‘in the mirror’ recently, and he wanted to do something about it.

Echoing one of his iconic catchphrases, he continued: ‘Anyway, that’s the bottom line, I’m out. I just got tired of looking like – when I looked in the mirror, I looked like s**t. I got tired of looking like s**t, so I’m taking actions to do something about it. I gotta go. Catch you down the road.’

His post received plenty of praise from current and retired wrestlers including his longtime rival Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who encouraged Stone Cold to ‘keep kicking ass’.

He commented: ‘Maaaan for everyone watching this, let me just say that how Steve is talking here, is exactly how talks in person and why we became brothers. Straight up, direct, no bulls**t.

‘Good or bad. You’ll always get the real. Keep kicking ass my brother. And you know I gotta say it, “thank you for the house”’.

Appearing on the Brewbound Podcast shortly after his WrestleMania return, Stone Cold gave an update on his physical status after the No Holds Barred match, which saw him take a suplex onto concrete during a thrilling brawl.

‘Oh, I’m 100%. I picked up a little bit of a cold the other day but I’m back home in Nevada. Shoot, [on the Saturday], I was 100% and of course went back in action on Sunday, did a little extra physicality as a part of the show,’ he teased.

‘But, you know, it’s just an exciting time for me to back to a business that I really, really love and you know, I never thought I’d be back in a ring but, there we were headlining, main event for the — headlining WrestleMania for night one and it was just truly an honor to be out there.’

He also suggested at the time that if WWE called, he would ‘be there’.
