Selma Blair and Christina Applegate have been leaning on one another as both of them are living with multiple sclerosis.

Christina, 50, was diagnosed with MS in August last year, while Selma, 50, went public with her own diagnosis in October 2018.

Selma revealed that despite her having lived with the condition for longer, Christina has been just as much of a support to her as they both navigate MS.

The Cruel Intentions star told Entertainment Tonight: ‘I’ve known Christina for so many years, we’re really close, and I’m just a fan of hers.

‘She is an iconic California girl actress of my generation, and she is it. There has not been one thing that she’s done that I haven’t been like, “Nailed it,” and she’s nailing just being who she is with this MS.’

Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune condition which affects the brain and spinal cord and can cause symptoms including problems with vision, balance and movements of the arms or legs.

While symptoms can be treated in many cases, MS is a lifelong condition which can cause disability, and is more common in women than men.

Selma revealed that Christina is a ‘strong’ support for her in her own journey, adding: ‘If you need something she’s at your house.

‘There have been things that I had been unglued, and she’s like, “I’m outside. Answer the door.” She’s just amazing and strong and fun.’

Selma, meanwhile, has been helping to advise Christina about canes and aids to make living with MS more manageable, adding: ‘She has a lot on her plate. It’s a lot, but she’s as brilliant and beautiful as ever.’

Christina had shared her diagnosis in August 2021, telling her followers: ‘Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS.

‘It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition.

‘It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some a*****e blocks it.

‘As one of my friends that has MS said “we wake up and take the indicated action”. And that’s what I do. So now I ask for privacy. As I go through this thing. Thank you xo.’
