It’s a right royal farce… Channel 4 has released the first details of Prince Andrew: The Musical – its satirical send-up of the life and times of the King’s disgraced younger brother.
The one-hour special will focus on key moments, relationships and controversies, including his disastrous BBC Newsnight interview in 2019 when he told presenter Emily Maitlis he couldn’t sweat and about his visit to a Pizza Express in Woking.
It also features original songs such as Will You Be My Ex-Wife and You’re Always Going To Need An Andrew.
Kieran Hodgson, who wrote the musical, stars as the Duke of York, with Emma Sidi playing Maitlis, Jenny Bede as Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and Munya Chawawa a race-swapped Prince Charles (as was).
Hodgson said: ‘The story of Prince Andrew is tragedy and farce rolled into one, so why not add “musical” for good measure?
‘Some might find the prospect of writing and performing their first TV musical a tad daunting. Not me. I found it completely terrifying.’

He continued: ‘But we’ve pulled out all the stops, put every penny on screen and let rip at an institution that would perhaps prefer us to forget about all this.’
There are also roles for Harry Enfield as Tony Blair and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Baga Chipz as Margaret Thatcher.
Prince Andrew: The Musical is expected to air on Channel 4 this Christmas.
