Sir Tom Jones is on the mend after undergoing surgery to replace his second hip.

The Voice UK judge, 82, decided to reassure fans on his wellbeing after being seen using a walking stick in recent months

In October, the It’s Not Unusual hitmaker sparked further concern when he sat down for much of his performance at the YouTube Theatre in California, while also relying on the walking stick whenever he stood.

On Wednesday night, Sir Tom revealed his health ordeal in a tweet, writing: ‘Papa has two new hips now!

‘For all those concerned and sent in well wishes, I am pleased to report my recent surgery went very well, I’m following orders and doing my physio, so happy to say I will be back soon.’

Sir Tom had his first hip surgery in 2017 and recently explained how he was awaiting his second one.

‘I do four songs sit down and say, look, normally I would get up after this, but tonight just on the stool just to take the weight off this leg,’ he told the Mail Online.

‘And I found that I could sing easier sitting than standing. I said to my son, I said, look, I hope they don’t mind when I go to America that I’ll be sitting down for what’s on the show.’

The Delilah crooner added that he wasn’t taking painkillers despite undoubtedly suffering pain, and added that he wasn’t on a ‘special diet’ either, instead ‘biding [his] time until he could get a new hip.

In July, Sir Tom was forced to shut down rumours he had collapse while on tour in Europe.

He explained in a statement: ‘Hello to all concerned. I travelled last night from the UK to Budapest and woke this morning with an uncomfortable throat.

‘A specialist came to visit and diagnosed “viral laryngitis”. He strongly advised postponing this evening’s show and prescribed medication and vocal rest.’

Responding to the false reports, he continued: ‘I did not “collapse” anywhere at any time, that is pure rumour. Hopefully the inflammation will calm soon as I am looking forward to continuing my wonderful summer tour.

‘Unfortunately the show had to be cancelled at the last minute, and for that I am very sorry. However, the show in Budapest has been rescheduled and will take place on August 16. Thanks again for all your kind concern.’
