Emma Corrin has revealed that they don’t mind if people get their pronouns wrong ‘as long as they try’.
The Crown star, who played Princess Diana in the fourth season of the series, revealed their pronouns are they/them in 2021 after coming out as non-binary.
Corrin, 26, has won a Golden Globe for their performance as the People’s Princess in the fourth season of the Netflix royal drama, and is starring in two high-profile films this year: My Policeman and Lady Chatterley’s Lover.
Since coming out as non-binary, they’ve spoken about their identity openly and has now said that as long as people were trying to correctly identify them, they wouldn’t be offended.
‘I don’t mind if people get my pronouns wrong, that’s fine,’ Emma told The Telegraph.
‘Just try, and I’ll correct you where necessary and gradually we take steps forward. It’s not going to happen overnight.’

During the interview, Emma also spoke about whether they’d ever felt anxiety about if coming out as non-binary might have affected their career.
‘I’m definitely fortunate that I’m dealing with this now and not 10 years ago,’ they said.
‘I know a lot of gay actors who took a long time to come out because they were worried about that, but I didn’t think about it.
‘It was important to me to live authentically – otherwise you run into a whole host of problems.’

Last week Emma also spoke about their hopes that awards ceremonies, specifically the Oscars, would add gender neutral categories to the awards at future ceremonies, saying the current ones were not ‘inclusive enough’.
‘I hope for a future in which that happens,’ they said.
