Buying Beverly Hills star Joey Ben-Zvi on where things stand with Alexia Umansky after season 1: ‘My DMs are frothing’-Rishma Dosani-Entertainment – Metro

Joey Ben-Zvi unwittingly became a breakout star of Buying Beverly Hills when the first season hit our screens this month, thanks to his antics with office bestie Ben Belack and his efforts to sell houses.

The series took us through the coveted doors of some of the biggest homes LA has to offer, courtesy of luxury real estate firm, The Agency – run by CEO Mauricio Umansky.

Through the eight-part series, viewers were introduced to the staff tasked with selling the properties, including his daughters – Farrah and Alexia – Brandon Graves, Sonika Vaid and Melissa Platt.

As well as getting to grips with multi-million-dollar houses, Joey was also seen rehashing his past fling with Alexia while in the office, with questions over whether they would reignite their spark.

Chatting to Metro.co.uk about all things Netflix and property, talk turned to where they both stand now – after it emerged that she has actually been dating Jake Zingerman for three years.

‘I’m super grateful that, with everything in our past, we remain the best of friends and have a very good relationship,’ he told us.

‘[I’m] just grateful for the relationship that we have. It’s always just a good vibe.’

He also revealed that his DMs have been positively overflowing since the series debuted on the platform – with many taking the opportunity to ‘shoot their shot’.

‘My DMs are so frothy right now, it’s unbelievable,’ he laughed. ‘I have every single type of person you can ever imagine in my DMs, shooting their shot and I love it.

‘It’s not all positive, there have been a few [that are] not as positive… But for the most part, I would say keep them coming.’

‘Frothy,’ Joey clarified. ‘Just like the real estate market…’

Good to know.

The agent had an interesting arc across the first season, building up a close friendship with Ben – who took him under his wing at points, giving us a property double-act of dreams.

However, this took a turn when Joey approached their boss for a chat, and revealed that his colleague had been courting offers from other firms.

Despite the pair hashing it out and putting the drama behind them in the finale – and moving on away from the cameras – Joey was still ‘nervous’ about the reaction he would be met with after the show aired.

‘I have more of a character per se on the show, and that got me nervous about how people would respond,’ he confessed. ‘But I would say overall, the feedback has been extremely positive. And I’m super happy about how the show turned up.’

In fact, his career has soared to new heights after Buying Beverly Hills was released, as he has sold huge properties on his own – as well as his aunt’s home.

‘Funny enough, in the show they portray the struggle of me getting that listing. It really was one of the hardest listings I’ve ever got. Going up against huge power brokers, I had to bring Mauricio and Farrah on, the big guns. That was my first biggest listing,’ he added.

‘Since then, I’ve closed quite a few in that neighborhood. More specifically – just for the poetic justice – on the day the show came out, I closed on that same house again, representing a new seller and a new buyer on both sides. We just closed again for $7.9 million at the same exact time.

‘This time without Mauricio and Farrah, even though I wouldn’t have got to where I am without them, I think I finally got the training wheels off.

‘I think it’s important that I come back for season two and show you that I do more business than just selling my aunt’s house.’

Buying Beverly Hills is available to stream on Netflix now.
